James and the Giant Peach was a great book. I even went to see the play as a field trip! SPOILER ALERT!!! So, it first starts as James when he loses his parents by rhinos. He then goes to an orphanage to live. After the orphanage, he goes to live with his two aunts, Spiker and Sponge. His two mean aunts force him to cut down a tree and kill a spider. He refuses to do that, but he has to. But thank goodness he doesn't. Then, a peach on his aunt's tree grows like magic. It finally falls down on the house but carries James with it. The peach goes on a long and tiring journey. He couldn't have done it without the help of his friends, Spider, Ladybug, Worm, Grasshopper, and Centipede. (Am I missing any?) They all played a role in helping James. Meanwhile, the aunts are on a cruise, going to New York. When they see the giant peach, they claim that it is theirs. The peach suddenly lands on the Emperor State Building and smashes into pieces. The pieces land on top of the two mean aunts and that is the end of them! But James worries who he will live with as a family. The bugs who helped him travel offered him a home, with THEM! And with that, that is the end of the story. I really like the story and rate it five stars. I recommend it to you, and also the play. If you liked this book, read some other books by Roald Daul, such as The Witches, Matilda, BFG, and James and the Chocolate Factory. I´ve never read such a wonderful book and I really like the details. I really hope you read this book, and maybe watch the play!

Roald Dahl is the best
I read this book over and over when I was a child. I lived in a pretty unhappy, trapped sort of home life and this book is what taught me that there are ways to transform your life; there are people—or creatures—on whom we can depend and whom we can help. I’m sure the reason I’m a fiction author today is largely because I found this when I was nine. I am re-reading it with such delectable enjoyment that I’m making myself only read three or four pages a day so that I can savor this wonderful tale for as long as possible. Then I’ll probably start it again and read it while I write my next book.
