Catrina and her family are moving to the coast of Northern California because her little sister, Maya, is sick. Cat isn't happy about leaving her friends for Bahía de la Luna, but Maya has cystic fibrosis and will benefit from the cool, salty air that blows in from the sea. As the girls explore their new home, a neighbor lets them in on a secret: There are ghosts in Bahía de la Luna. Maya is determined to meet one, but Cat wants nothing to do with them. As the time of year when ghosts reunite with their loved ones approaches, Cat must figure out how to put aside her fears for her sister's sake -- and her own.

Raina Telgemeier has masterfully created a moving and insightful story about the power of family and friendship, and how it gives us the courage to do what we never thought possible.

I really love this book, I have read this book over and over again I have read it like 12 times in my whole life. I recommend this book. This book is about a girl named Catrina but she likes to be called Cat and she had a perfect life until she had to move away because her sister had to get her health up her sisters name is Maya. Maya is sick and has Cystic Fibrosis and there is no cure. Catrina has to move and there is this boy named Carlos who works for a ghost tour place and Carlos gives ghost tours. Catrina use to be very bad at making friends but now she has really good friends named Seo Young. In the story Cat's Sister Maya gets hurt by ghosts, Maya has to now were a breathing tube but good thing is that the tube is not permanent. Maya really wants to meet a ghost then she meets Carlos's uncle Jose who is dead and who is eight. You should read the book.

I thought the tube is permanent? And it is not uncle Jose, it is Tió José

i finished this book about 2 years ago, but i read it again and i still really like it! :-)

I think this book is so good that I need students to read this book. It is very scary, funny, and sad story.

I loved this book. I had just finished reading "Smile" and "Sisters" and then I decided to read this. As soon as I read the first page, I knew that I had made a good choice. This book is based on a family of four; a Mom and Dad, an elder sister and a younger sister. The younger sister has a type of sickness where she can't breathe very well where there is dust. And, every night, she has to put on a mask that keeps circulating air through her lungs. When they have to move, the parents don't want to, but it will be very beneficial for the whole family. Once they reach there, the elder sister makes new friends but doesn't want to be embarrassed by her sister. Don't worry, though. She takes her out when she has time. One day while exploring, they find an arcade. They go inside and find a boy. About the elder sister's age. Right from when they go in, the elder sister doesn't want the boy near her sister. Then, the boy shows them around. While going around, younger sister goes somewhere else while the elder sister is looking around. Therefore, the older sister doesn't notice. When she finally finds her sister, she finds the boy with her and they are dancing around with ghosts. When the sister shouts to get her sister out of there, the ghosts turn into dust. When that happens, the little sisters sickness occurs. She needs oxygen quick! When she gets home, she puts her sister's oxygen mask on and tells her parents what had happened. She is so mad at they boy, that she yells at him and tells him to never come near her sister again. Near the end, they bond together because of a festival that is very special to many people that are from Mexico. It is a festival where they meet the spirits of the loved ones that they lost. The elder sister finally finds out that the boy is not a bad influence on a younger sister. She lets him be around her younger sister and they soon become best friends. All three of them. Because of the story, this book deserves that rating I gave it. A 5/5! Have a great time reading and enjoy.
