A New York Times Bestseller!

The author of the beloved One for the Murphys gives readers an emotionally-charged, uplifting novel that will speak to anyone who’s ever thought there was something wrong with them because they didn’t fit in.

“Everybody is smart in different ways. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its life believing it is stupid.”

Ally has been smart enough to fool a lot of smart people. Every time she lands in a new school, she is able to hide her inability to read by creating clever yet disruptive distractions.  She is afraid to ask for help; after all, how can you cure dumb? However, her newest teacher Mr. Daniels sees the bright, creative kid underneath the trouble maker. With his help, Ally learns not to be so hard on herself and that dyslexia is nothing to be ashamed of. As her confidence grows, Ally feels free to be herself and the world starts opening up with possibilities. She discovers that there’s a lot more to her—and to everyone—than a label, and that great minds don’t always think alike.

fish in a tree Is about a girl named ally who goes through a lot of struggles. one of those struggles is that she has a very hard time reading. so when she moves to a new class she expects to do the same thing she always has and just try to hide the fact that she cant read well. but then her teacher mr. daniels learns she cant read and tries to help her. in the end she has made some friends to help her and she learns how to read. I rated this book three stars because the story line was good and it was a great book with lots of struggles to overcome. I recommend this book to people who are fans of this author or like realistic fiction. I enjoyed reading this book and I think you would too.

This book kind of reminds me of Mitilda and Fish out of Water, I think that this book was a very enjoyable read for me.

This book is about a girl who seems as out of place as a fish in a tree. She'd REALLY rather not have to talk!! This book talks about how different people from you have feeling and if that person is you, you are REALLY not that different!!

This book reminds me of Wonder in that it is about a kid that is unique, or thinks she is unique. I can relate to the main character. At times I felt bad about what was going on, but the teacher made things right. Good easy read.

This book was awesome! It was so inspiring to pre-teens everywhere.Ally has dyslexia and has trouble reading so she tries to make trouble so she won't have to read. But then her teacher Mr.Daniels taught her that having Dyslexia is nothing to me ashamed of.I recommend to anyone.

This book is really good. This book is about a girl, Ally, who has trouble reading. This book has several plot twist, unexpected changes, goods and bads, and more. Recommend this book

Fish in a Tree is such an inspiring book for all young teens in the world. It is truely spectacular and upliftung to read about how one girl tries to fit in , to then find out she doesn,t have to. This book is definitely a must read for all who love to feel good about themselves after reading a great book. Like i said this outstanding book is a lovely must read that i enjoyed and may read again soon!

So far through school, Ally has been bullied, has no friends, is talented at art and math, and can't read. But when she gets a new teacher, everything changes. She befriends Albert, a bullied genius who doesn't have money and Keisha, a girl who always stands up against bullies.

Ally, who is in fourth grade, can't read. She has evaded it by getting in trouble and hiding in the back. But when her new teacher notices her extreme skill in certain areas but refuses to write, he will help her make friends and come out of her shell.

I can't believe it! This book wasn't exactly love at first sight, but when i looked through a few pages, it was downright AWESOME! I love how it was humorous-after all, what would people react to a fish on a tree and was still alive!
