I loved the Lightning Thief! This book started out when Percy Jackson, in middle school accidentally vaporized his math teacher with a ball point pen that turns into a sword from his history teacher Mr. Brunner. He and his friend Grover finally get to summer break where they part ways but when Grover shows up at Percy's beach house, things start to get weird. They rush to a camp called Camp Half Blood where they are chased by an ancient Greek monster known as the Minotaur. When they arrive at camp, Percy's mom is taken by the Minotaur to the underworld. Percy finds himself at a camp with people just like him and all of there parents are Greek gods, well, one parent is mortal, one is Greek god. These kids are called Half Bloods or Demigods. Percy is taught to defend himself with his sword which is disguised as a ball point pen. Percy then learns of a problem that could result in world war 3 if not solved. Zeus's master lightning bolt has gone missing and Percy's father is being blamed. Percy goes on an adventure with some other demigods to find the lightning bolt and return it to Zeus. Can Percy save his mother, return Zeus's lightning bolt and prevent havoc between all of the Greek gods? Read this book to learn more about Percy, his Demigod friends, his father, if he can save his mother and Greek mythology all in a great series! I recommend this book and the series to 3rd through 8th graders depending on your reading level. Go on an adventure in a book you will not want to put down!Over 5 years agolemonade11liked a comment in The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Book 1).
Haha, if you look at my review on the page before yours, we have completely different opinions :D I did have the same opinion as you when I was nine, but for some reason, this series.. grew on me lol, I don't enjoy it as much as usual anymore :D Instead, I focus on Heroes of Olympus more!Over 5 years agolemonade11 added a news bookmark.

@editor, So @bookstory13 has a GREAT idea to add Fan Fiction to one of the subdivisions on iDogo. Kids could write their own fan fiction and post it for others to see here on iDogo. I think it's a great idea that a lot of members would enjoy. Please consider making her wonderful idea a reality. Thank you for all of your hard work! -@olliebobAlmost 6 years agolemonade11 added a new comment in
