Hi! We mostly chat in the comments here- it's a great place to get to know other users! Some people do shoutouts to their followers here, some give book recommendations, some chat about whatever's going on in the world or in their life, some share fun facts, some ask questions, some talk about eating Ramen Noodles, some (like myself) look for people who (like you) are new to DOGO or Nat Geo and hopefully help them out. Every now and then, a new book from Nat Geo is advertised at the top- usually, DOGO gives away a free copy of the book under the freebies tab. Now, if you ever have any questions about DOGO just comment here that you're looking for @armcginn (me) and I'd be happy to help! Other great users are @bsc, @gold3nglare & @kotlcfitzphie13- they're very friendly and always happy to help! I enjoy writing great reviews, usually for middle & high school level books (you can read them by clicking on the blue name next to my avatar). I hope this helped!Over 3 years agoarmcginn added a new comment in
Ever wanted to name a horse? Here's your chance! So I think I've mentioned that my grandparents have horses, right? Well, on the day of New Year's Eve, one of their mares had her foal! Spent the weekend at their place and got to see him up-close & in person! He's all black (though he might turn Dapple grey as he gets older) and fuzzy with spindly legs and big brown eyes. There's nothing quite like having an animal like that fall asleep all curled up in a little ball 2-3 feet away. And HE IS SOFT. Like, softer than a fleece blanket soft. He doesn't have a name yet, so suggestions are welcome, though something that isn't as cliche as star, midnight, or blackie would be wonderful. Personally, I like the name Comanche, the name of a warhorse who was the sole survivor of the Battle of Little Big Horn- General Custer's last stand, despite being shot seven times. The colt is a spirited and adventurous little fellow, Thoughts?Over 3 years agoarmcginn replied to a comment in
I would recommend these historical fiction books: For Middle school and up I would recommend The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, The Perfect Horse: The Daring U.S. Mission to Rescue the Priceless Stallions Kidnapped by the Nazis by Elizabeth Letts, Unbroken By Laura Hillenbrand, SGT. Reckless by Robin Hutton, Gone With The Wind by Margret Mitchell, Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson, Ghost Riders by Mark Felton, Don't Give Up, Don't Give in By Louis Zamperini, The Librarian of Auschwitz by Antonio Iturbe, and The Boys in the Boat by Gregory Mone. For Elementary School readers, I'd recommend Little House On The Prarie, The Island Of The Blue Dolphins, The War That Saved My Life, Anne of Green Gables, The Invention of Hugo Cabret, Black Beauty, and Carolynn Kenne's Nancy Drew. Hope This Helped!Over 3 years agogold3nglareliked a comment in National Geographic Kids Book Club.

She is Aelin Ashryver Galathynius the true Queen of Terrasen- and it is time to fight for her people. She has returned to Rifthold stronger and mightier than ever to take down the King of Adarlan and win back her crown. She soon discovers that her cousin Aeidon Ashryver, Wolf of The North and general to the King has been imprisoned for treason to the crown- and is soon to be executed. She employs the help of the conceited Arobynn and his assassins to aid her in the rescue. Can she save what remains of her shattered family, redeem her fallen kingdom, and escape with her life? New allies will rise- old ones fall, and Kingdoms burn. The saga continues, as rousing, epic, riveting, and explosive as ever before! Fans of the Red Queen series, the His Fair Assassin trilogy, and A Court of Thorns and Roses will delight in Maas’ Fourth enrapturing installment in her Throne Of Glass series! Be sure to have the next book Empire of Storms on hand- you won’t be able to wait to find out what happens next! The plot is intricately built, characters well-rounded and authentic, this is a read you won’t forget! Sarah J. Maas never fails to impress! I would recommend the series for middle school and up!Over 3 years agogold3nglareis now following armcginn.

Don't ever change- If they can't be nice forget them! This happened to my now-best-friend. A (now) old best friend of hers sent her home in tears nearly every night. She stayed strong, shut that person out of her life, and made new friends (namely me), and is much happier. We've been friends for three years now and are rarely seen without each other- in fact, we've been mistaken as twins! Even if they're your best friend they can still be a toxic person- watch the way they treat others and yourself- if it's too much, get away! Stay Strong my friend! Don't let anyone bring you down! Stand your ground! Listening to music, enjoying nature, watching sunsets/sunrises, and confiding in those you trust helps!Over 3 years ago
