Silly Putty (Junk or Treasure)Friday, May 4, 2012 at 5:05 am
Mrs. SettelmaierWhat scientific connection does this story have to our current lesson about properties of matter?Write a persuasive letter telling whether or not we should be able to make silly putty at school?Use details from the text to support your answer.
Silly Putty Takes On A More Serious Role
Who hasn't had fun with Silly Putty? The gooey mixture of cornstarch and water that flows like a liquid when handled gently, but turns as hard as a rock, when punched or stomped over. After years of entertaining kids in elementary classrooms, the simple mixture that can magically change its form, is now poised to take on a more serious role - Fix potholes!- Brandonalmost 12 yearssilly puty is good for the road and is cool and fun for US and kids that are bad can not do it.
- Tayloralmost 12 yearsDaer Mrs. Settlemaier, I think we should make silly putty because it is fun and the Silly Putty will not damage the environment nor, harm the human handling it. Also we will still do science.
- christinealmost 12 yearsDear Mrs.Settelmaier, we can make silly putty and learn about science first and then make the silly putty
- Matthewalmost 12 yearsSILLY PUTTY IS BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Jordyn J.almost 12 yearsDear Mrs.Settelmaier, I think we should make silly putty. I say this because it would be fun. Also people that are silly can have it taken away. Only good people should be able to do it. It will help us learn about how to make silly putty. It is good for the environment. We could help stop the potholes! Silly putty is non toxic. We could test the magnet thing out too. It won’t hurt the environment. IT IS GOOD! Love, Jordyn J.
- blakealmost 12 yearsI think we should not make silly putty because it is yucky and gross and gets on your hands and in finger nails and hard to come out
- ROBERTalmost 12 yearsThe product is completely biodegradable and no-toxic.

- Carissaalmost 12 yearsMrs.Settlemair this is a good idea because it will save us $, lives, new drivers. For the enviorment.According to scientists when the particles in the cornstarch get pushed around rapidly, which happens when they are punched or run over, they have no time to rearrange .
- Jordan Malmost 12 yearsDear Mrs.Settelmeiar, I think it is a good idea to make the silly putty because it is the end of the year and we sould end the year on a good foot. And last preaty preaty please!

Ants are industrious little insects that always seem to know where they are heading - Now, a team of curious researchers from the Technical University of Munich and Brazilian Center for Physics Research believe they may have the answer - It's all to do with their in-built GPS systems.Green GymThursday, October 27, 2011 at 6:10 pm
Portland's Green Gym Harnesses Human Energy
While it may not appear to be so - Thanks to all the equipment and television screens, not to mention the bright lights, constant air-conditioning or heating, gyms are big energy users - kind of ironic when you consider how much energy people expand whilst working out. Though there has been some sporadic attempts to harness the energy, nobody has taken it to the level of Portland-based Green Microgym.Migrating BirdThursday, October 27, 2011 at 5:57 pm
