Where the Red Fern Grows is an example of dogs being a man's best friend. Every day, he dreams of having two coon hounds. When he sees a ad in a magazine, he starts saving money. Over the course of a few years, he finally has enough money to buy the dogs. he names them old Dan and Little Ann. Old Dan is great at fighting , and Little Ann can figure out any trick a coon pulls. Together, they become a great team. Billy and the dogs become very close. Where the Red Fern Grows is perfect for people who love dogs and like sad stories.

This is a book about a ten year old buy who really wants two dogs, but not just any dogs, these special type of dogs. The book goes through of him spending two years to earn enough money to buy these two dogs he saw in a magazine ad. It is a really special book and I love it a lot because it is so heart warming. Try to read it if you can.
