A thrilling new series soars above the competition and redefines middle-grade fantasy fiction for a new generation!

The seven dragon tribes have been at war for generations, locked in an endless battle over an ancient, lost treasure. A secret movement called the Talons of Peace is determined to bring an end to the fighting, with the help of a prophecy -- a foretelling that calls for great sacrifice.

Five dragonets are collected to fulfill the prophecy, raised in a hidden cave and enlisted, against their will, to end the terrible war.

But not every dragonet wants a destiny. And when the select five escape their underground captors to look for their original homes, what has been unleashed on the dragon world may be far more than the revolutionary planners intended . . .

Have you ever read a story all about dragons? The Wings of Fire The Dragonet Prophecy is a fantasy fiction with mystery and adventure. This story is set in a land called Pyrrhia. It is about five dragonets of destiny Clay the Mudwing (in this book we see it through his point of view), Tsunami the SeaWing, Glory the RainWing (who should have been a Skywing), Starflight the NightWing, and last but not lest Sunny the SandWing (who does not look like a regular Sandwing.) The dragonets are looked after by three of the Talons of Peace Kestrel a Skywing, Webs a Seawing, and Dune a Sandwing. The dragnets were forced to stay hidden underground, but they didn’t like it down there. When they found out that one of them was going to die because they weren't what the talons wanted they planned an escape. Find out what happens next by reading this awesome book!

You've been raised, along with 4 other dragonets, your whole life. It is the only thing you've ever known. Your keepers are not your parents, but other, more gruff dragons - they teach you to fight and that someday you will have a destiny to fulfill as part of a prophecy. You never see the sky, and your keepers are harsh - and sometimes even cruel. After learning that one of you is considered less-than-worthy for the prophecy and is to be killed, you band together with the other four dragonets - the only true family you have ever known - and plot an escape. Problem is, you have escaped from the frying pan into the fire of war in the outer world. Survival will be a test of all you've learned and all you want to be. I got this book to read, because I generally enjoy books about dragons, which interest me. I got to it, finished it in a couple of days, and was anxious to re-read it. I was fascinated with the guide in the front of the book that has drawings of each different kind of dragon, as well as information about them - I would think that was one of my favorite things. I also really liked the book because of how the story all fit together. The story might start off a little bit slow, but it picks up speed fairly quickly. Wings of Fire appears to be the first book in a series for middle-graders. It's a little young to be considered Young Adult, and is certainly not elementary. While it would be good for reading out loud, there is some violence and a few descriptions of the aftermath of war that might bother the younger set. There is a definite resolution, while still being apparent that there is more to come. I plan on giving the book 5 stars. I will be looking forward to reading the sequel!

I love this book! It is about a bunch of dragonets who were born under a mountain. They have been forced to be the ones that pick out the new Sandwing queen. I recommend this book for kids 10+ due to some deaths. This is a superb book.
