Seekers: Kallik's Adventure (Seekers Manga)

By Erin Hunter

A young polar bear named Kallik and her brother, Taqqiq, have always dreamed of exploring the outside world. Their mother tells them great stories about it—and both of them are ready to see the vast land, filled with snow and ice. Until now, they have never been outside their cozy den, where both of them are safe from danger. But how will the cubs get to explore if they’re always kept away from the outdoor world by the den’s boundary? One day, Kallik and Taqqiq decide to sneak out. They both think it’s exciting at first—but their adventure holds more danger than any bear could have thought. Soon, the cubs find themselves in a HUGE puddle of trouble! How will they explain it to their mother? Then, they meet another bear, who might just help them get out of this mess...but Kallik doesn’t know if she can trust the strange bear. And when she’s suddenly separated from her brother, she must make a decision; go back home to her mother, but without Taqqiq by her side? Or go forward, into unknown territory? What will she do? Seekers: Toklo's Story (Seekers Manga)

Seekers: Toklo's Story (Seekers Manga)

By Erin Hunter

Toklo, a grizzly bear cub, wants to be the most powerful bear in the forest. He dreams of marking out his own territory one day, with his brother following him. Some bears may like to live alone, but he will always have Tobi by his side. But ever since he was younger, Tobi has a strange illness that no bear could cure. So how will Toklo protect his younger brother? Life has never been easy for their family...but it gets even harder now. When a big, mean grizzly tells Toklo’s mother to leave the forest, they have no choice but to obey. Where will the bears go? New territory is hard to find, and even harder to fight for—if that need arises. Homeless, hunted, and wandering, the family has nowhere to go...unless they face the future. Then, Toklo’s mother is captured by the strange creatures that prowl outside their former territory—flat-faces, the two-pawed animals with no claws or fur, with their strange machines and objects. The loss presses on Toklo’s shoulders heavily; what will he do now? Should he try to find his mother, with no clue about where she is? Or should she continue his search for new territory? Read this book to find out which one he chooses!

Lord of Shadows (Dark Artifices)

Lord of Shadows (Dark Artifices)

By Cassandra Clare

zie

There is a certain allure to the Shadowhunter world, and I can say that anyone who has read Lord of Shadows has found it. It is a work of urban fantasy, romance, mystery and a battle of the most interesting races that I’ve heard of. Everything in The Shadowhunter Chronicles is crafted with such care; each character having the flaws, drive and hangups that make them human. They are all just that—humans in a world that might not be ready for change. These books (of the Shadowhunter Chronicles) are so full of wonder, and they offhandedly remind the reader of the hard truths that exist in any world—real or fictional. There is so much to say about Lord of Shadows. This book brings about a sinister air of what is to come: it does not bring peace to the audience that follows its series, but there are moments of that same peace amidst the madness. There is no words in any language that can convey my anguish and tears as I neared the final pages. To have to put a book like this down! I would never consider it! The journey that this book took me on warrants an entire manuscript of raw emotion. I could never dream that words printed on paper could make me feel so many things—that people and a story created in someone’s mind could influence my way of thinking.

Lost in the Sun

Lost in the Sun

By Lisa Graff

Lost in the Sun is about a boy named Trent, who is starting a middle school and all he wants is a fresh start. But that can’t happen when he was the one who killed Jared (on accident). He feels like everybody hates him, so he hates them back. Until he starts to know Fallon Little, a girl who has a scar down her face, that he learns that fresh starts aren’t easy to do, even when it seems like it is. I think this book is pretty good, and I would recommend it! ;)
