When You Reach Me
By Rebecca Stead
Miranda lives with her mom and her mom's boyfriend Richard in a shabby little apartment. Life is normal... for the time being. One day on their walk home from school, Miranda's best friend Sal gets punched by a kid in their grade, Marcus. And then everything begins happening to Miranda all at once, in a whirlwind. Sal suddenly doesn't want to hang out with her anymore. Miranda's mom gets chosen to be a contestant in a game show where she could win $20,000! And Miranda also starts to receive mysterious notes. The notes say that it's up to her to help save her friends life and the note writer's own. Perplexed, Miranda tries to forget about the notes, and makes some new friends, Annemarie and Colin. Soon her life takes another turn-- she is accused of stealing, and more notes pop up, each one weirder than the others. This note writer seems to know exactly what's about to happen in her life! And that brings in the subject of time travel. **Now, at this part of the book, the author Rebecca Stead explains time travel. It's a little confusing, but hopefully you'll get the gist.** Miranda figures out secrets of the past, present, and future, and everything falls into place. Maybe her predicaments didn't turn about as bad as she thought! I really enjoyed this book, it was thorough in explanation, and it talked about the book A Wrinkle in Time as a main theme. Now this book has inspired me to read it! I really liked this amazing novel!
Nat Enough
By Maria Scrivan
This book's review popped on my dogo books review section and I was interested. This book is a lot like dork diary, and the main character is Natalie (Nat). Her "best friend" Lily had never been good toward her but when middle school started, things get worse between them as Lily start hanging the COOL kid Alex. She has a crush on Derek, which the book haven't explained in-depth, so I hope it is in the next book. Anyway, Natalie try to cling on the fact that Lily can still be her friend. Although she talks openly about her nerdyness and Natalie's (real) friends Zoe and Flo tells her no. Will Nat realize how to be cool in her own way? Giving too much away is not going to earn any smiles, so that's it! Wait, did I mention how funny it was? Well it is!
Louisiana's Way Home
By Kate DiCamillo
Louisiana climbs into a car like a heap of depression. Tears falling from her eyes. Her Granny is taking her somewhere where she finds hard secrets, and new friendships. Although she misses her friends Raymie Clarke and Beverly dearly, she must find a way where she can go without them. Another great read my Kate, and you must take the task to read this incredible book, ending with an ending that may effect people differently. Read to find out.
American Born Chinese
By Gene Luen Yang
”American born Chinese” By Gene Luen Yang is a graphic novel story which takes place in a mythical world/ Heaven and America. The characters Are Jin Wang, Monkey king, and Danny. This novel started When the monkey king went to a big party in Heaven and he was denied access because he was a monkey and did not wear shoes. The Monkey king took matters into his own hand and beat them all up. This made the monkey king change who he really was and he tried to bet the best and tried to fit in with all the other gods, this correlates with every other character in this novel. Jin was the only Chinese American boy in his class so he always felt like the odd one out so he wished he was and American boy so he wouldn’t feel so alone so later on in life it forced him the change how he looked.Danny is an all American boy and he has a cousin from China which all ways embarrasses him and ruins his reputation so he transfers schools every year so he doesn’t have to bare the embarrassment. I recommend this book to you because this is a short cool graphic novel and you can learn valuable lessons when you read this book I would rate this a 5/5 book got read it

By Mike Lupica
The book “The Only Game”, written by Mike Lupica, is a realistic fiction sports novel. In this story Jack Callahan, a 13 year old boy,who lives in a baseball town called Walton, is grieving over his older brother Brad's death and learning how to handle the stress in his life, especially baseball. He wants to make his brother proud, but cannot help but blame himself for his brother's death. Why is he blaming himself? After his new friends help him work through his grief and get him back out on the field Jack decides to help them show off their own talent on the field. He teaches them the rules of baseball and reminds them how important it is to believe in yourself. But who is teaching who? The topics addressed in this book are grief, love, loss, guilt, trust and friendships. This teaches how important good mental health is when playing a sport. Overall I love the lesson that the book taught and I would definitely recommend this book. I give this book a 4.5 star rating.

The Assassination of Brangwain Spurge
By M.T. Anderson, Eugene Yelchin
This book is not what I originally expected. For one thing, the goblins aren't evil. Okay, fine, maybe a tiny bit. But it's not like they would kill you.... unless you insulted them. So yeah, they are kinda evil. But not as evil as I expected. Another thing, the elves are basically Victorian, except, well, more barbaric. (there's this whole chopping-fingers-off thing with the king and one of his subjects) So basically, neither side is all that great. Add in the fact that there has recently been a goblin-elf war, and a bunch of people were killed, and you get a LOT of prejudices. Both sides think the other is totally evil. So when Brangwain Spurge is sent to bring a gem to the goblin king, things do NOT go smoothly. Then Spurge goes spying, and is caught. Spurge finds himself running away with his former enemy, whose life he has just ruined.
