Pollyanna (Oxford Children's Classics)

Pollyanna (Oxford Children's Classics)

By Eleanor Porter

The main lesson in this story is to try to be glad when your sad. First, when the Glad Game was harder for Pollyanna it would be more fun! Pollyanna would always play the Glad Game when she was sad. Pollyanna even helped other people who are not happy or are disappointed to play the Glad Game. Second, she even taught Nancy ( a maid ) how to play the Glad Game! When Pollyanna wanted a toy doll in a care package from the ladies aid, but instead got crutches, she was blue. So her dad taught her how to play the Glad Game! At first, Pollyanna thought,¨ How could a silly game help me find a way to be happy about these crutches?¨, look at her now, she´s spreading the game everywhere! Third, she finally figured out how to be glad about the crutches! ( The book never said how? ) Finally, I would recommend this book for 5th grade girls because the book taught me to try to be glad when I´m sad, and if you read the book, I hope you will try to! Pollyanna is a tremendous book! I would read Pollyanna again!!!

The Magic School Bus: Inside a Hurricane

The Magic School Bus: Inside a Hurricane

By Joanna Cole

In this book, it contains information about hurricanes and the geography of it. You will learn about how they form and what the parts of a hurricane are called. While learning more about them, you will have tons of fun! I would recommend this for ages 7+ I'm too old for this book and it is only the basics about hurricanes. Not bad, but they could add more detail.

Jack and Jill

Jack and Jill

By Louisa May Alcott

Jack and Jill by Louisa May Alcott is a 24 chapter fictional book about two friends. They have small, lighthearted adventures over the course of one year. I really enjoyed connecting to the characters on a personal level, seeing myself in them more than once. If you've read A Wrinkle in Time, this book is similar in writing style. My favorite part about this book is that the characters make mistakes and learn from them. It makes them more relatable. I would highly recommend this book to kids who are reading the classics, who want to read a fun short story, or are learning about different sentence structures. From 0 to 10, I give this book a strong 8.

Rosie the Riveter: Women Working on the Homefront in World War II

Rosie the Riveter: Women Working on the Homefront in World War II

By Penny Colman

I am highly interested in the history of Woman so when I learned of Rosie the riveter I knew I just had to read this. I learned many things about what it was like for woman during WWII getting a chance to work real jobs and not just stay at home all day "taking care of the kids" and "making supper before their husbands got home". I've always found it strange that they weren't given these opportunities before some thing horrible like a war happend. I recommend this to 12+ or to anyone whom is interested in women's history. Thanks for reading -Ajg16's reviews

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (A Golden melody book)

By Walt Disney Productions

I chose to read this book because I watched the movie and was in a Snow White and the Seven Dwarves performance. The book was a little bit different than the movie and the performance. I love this book. I think this is good for ages 4 to age 8.
