Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

By J.K. Rowling

How do you think it would feel to be the only one to stop a being of pure evil? In the book Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling. The protagonist is Harry Potter a teenage wizard boy who lives with his aunt and uncle. They treat him like he doesn’t even exist and his room is a cupboard under the stairs. The reason he lives with these horrible people is because his parents died at the hand of the antagonist Voldemort the greatest evil in the wizarding world. I find the book very interesting and descriptive. The author did a very well job making this book and this series in general. There are parts that made me quite sad as important things went on. Such as how someone very dear to Harry died right in front of him or how he has to struggle through having a very mean and evil teacher controlling Hogwarts. There are a lot of twists and times where you don’t know what to expect. J.K. Rowling created pure perfection in a paper back cover that will most likely live on and entertain many generations to come and withstand the test of time. Harry Potter and the order of the Phoenix was a very thick book with eight hundred seventy pages and definitely not the last nor biggest book in the series. So far this book is my favorite and I recommend it to anyone looking for a great and long read. I believe J.K. Rowling did a amazing job in describing areas, characters and magical creatures in the book and the whole series. I also believe that this is straight from the heart and mind of the author and will inspire many whether it be adult or child to pursue their dreams and to never give up on what they believe in. The characters are all filled with such description from the way they speak to their dreams that they wish to come true. When you first introduced to characters you get a description of what their wearing, what they look like and how they seem to appear in stater. The ending was both wrapped up well and made me want to read more from the other books. I know I will feel sad when I finish the last two books, but I will feel happy to have read these books. I suggest this book to someone between the ages of 7 to adult because this book has odd words some people may not be able to pronounce.

The Heroes of Olympus, Book One The Lost Hero (new cover)

The Heroes of Olympus, Book One The Lost Hero (new cover)

By Rick Riordan

Imagine if the greek gods were real, and were still alive today. Imagine if there were demigods, roaming the Earth, that we humans knew nothing about. Well, in The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan, you get to see what a world like that would be like; through the demigod’s points of view. In The Lost Hero, each character is facing a different conflict. Earlier in his life, Leo was tricked by the evil primordial god of the earth Gaea to use his fire powers (An attribute that is very rare for a son of Hephaestus to have) for bad. Gaea manipulated his firepower so that he burned down the mechanic shop his mom-owned, and his mom died in the fire. So now he doesn’t want to use his fire powers in fear that he will hurt someone again. Jason lost his memory, so he can’t remember anything that's happened before he woke up on a school bus. Piper is sad because she remembers that Jason and her were boyfriend and girlfriend, but none of the relationship was real, it was just a trick of the mist (the mist basically hides the gods, demigods and greek monsters from humans, although some humans have a gift to see through the mist). The setting of the book is in the USA, in modern times, and for most of the book at a camp called Camp Half-Blood; which is a camp for demigods of greek gods, which all of the main characters are. The main antagonist in the book series is Gaea. Gaea is the Greek primordial goddess of the Earth, which means she was created near the beginning of time. She has been asleep for eons but is now waking up to overthrow the gods. Basically, a lot of the enemies that the main characters face that aren’t Gaea are working for Gaea, like the giant Enceladus, who was keeping Piper's dad captive on Mount Diablo; that giant was working for Gaea. One of the most important memory moments of the book was when Jason got most of his memory back and remembered that he was a son of Jupiter, which is the roman version of Zeus, which means he is Roman and not Greek. This memory moment then makes all of the characters have the biggest aha-moment of the story that sets the scene for the next book in the series. Overall, The Lost Hero is a great book and I would recommend it to anyone who has finished the Percy Jackson series and is left with the feeling of wanting more, or, for anybody who is interested in greek mythology and a great and hard-to-put-down book.

A Dog's Purpose

A Dog's Purpose

By W. Bruce Cameron

One dog, three different lives, and one ultimate purpose to find! I just finished this book and it was so touching and just totally great! An intelligent dog trying to find his purpose in life ends up having 3 lives to fulfill it! Each life is different, including Bailey, the perfect golden retriever pup, to Ellie, a German Shepard, who is part of the K9 unit at the police station! I, for one, got really emotional at several parts in the book! There is adventure, drama, suspense, comedy... practically everything wrapped up with a bow and handed to you in one amazing, heartfelt book. This will change the way you look at dogs forever. I would recommend it to readers 5th grade and up!

Scarlett: The Sequel to Margaret Mitchell's Gone With the Wind

By A Ripley

Scarlet This is one of my all time favourite books, it is mainly aimed at higher aged children 10+ and is dramatic and has a deep story line. The author writes it so that you know exactly how the main character feels. This is one of my favourite books by Cathy cassidy (I have nearly read them all!) and I truly recommend it.

Black Beauty (100 Copy Limited Edition)

Black Beauty (100 Copy Limited Edition)

By Anna Sewell

The story about Black Beauty had been started when he was just a foal. He was described as a horse with black coat, along with the black mane. But once when he got older, he got sold to many different hands (people who works with horses) such like; Squire and Lady Gordon, Miss W--, Miss Anna, etc. Beauty also friends with other horses; Merrylegs, Ginger, and Captain. Even though this book is fictional but the way the author, Anna Sewell wrote about Black Beauty has just felt so real. I had really enjoyed this book and this book would be perfect for any horses-lovers. - Happy Reading!

Millionaires for the Month

Millionaires for the Month

By McAnulty, Stacy

Millionaires for the month is a VERY good book! (small spoiler) The two boys seem to just borrow a 20 dollar bill and not thinking of anything but then Laura Friendly, who is...by the way, not so friendly gets her wallet back shes notices the money missing which is pretty weird considers she has BILLIONS, She does a small challenge for a month, where she gives the two boys a penny but it doubles everyday! Which ends up leading up to around 5 MILLION DOLLARS, but I really like that no matter what, they used their money in a good and non greedy way, like to sort of help out their families. I give this a 5 out 5 stars!!

Space Case (Moon Base Alpha)

Space Case (Moon Base Alpha)

By Stuart Gibbs

Space Case is the first out of three books in the Moon Base Alpha series. Stuart Gibbs has impressed everyone will the plot and humorous ideas in this incredible book. Dashiell Gibson, a 12 year old boy, is just getting used to life on the moon station when something strange happens: When Dashiell heads into the bathroom (The food on the station isn't great), he notices Dr. Holtz talking to what seems to be himself. Could he be hallucinating? Dash doesn't know, so when Holtz turns up dead a few hours later, Dash knows it wasn't an accident. Someone has killed Holtz, someone who knows the big news that Holtz was going to say to everyone that morning. Now it's up to Dash to find out what exactly caused Holtz to die, and who killed him. Because if their was a killer on the base, then everyone he cared about, and more, would be in danger. Only problem is, the base was small, and everyone could be a suspect. Will Dash be able to solve the mystery, or will someone else be murdered? I really loved this fast paced book. With all the hidden clues, this book is worth the read!
