Fire
By Kristin Cashore
This is a sister book to Graceling. Read in whatever order you want. Fire takes a look at another at a world not unlike that found in Narnia or Lord of the Rings. I love that in this novel the character Fire has powers that are unique to her particular kind of monster!
For Freedom: The Story of a French Spy
By Kimberly Brubaker Bradley
For Suzanne, World War II started when the bombs dropped, killing her pregnant neighbor and her neighbor's unborn baby. Before the bombs, Suzanne knew about the war, she just didn't think it would ever be near her, or impact her life. Soon, Suzanne and her family are kicked out of thier house by the Nazis and must find a place to live. It is terrible. But even throughout the drastic changes in Suzanne's life, she can still do the thing she loves, the thing she's amazing at. Suzanne can sing. Suzanne travels all over France for musicals and concerts, and starts to learn more about the Nazis, and just hates them even more. As Suzanne is traveling around France, she gets the attention of someone. That someone is a spy for the French Resistance and thinks Suzanne would make a good spy as well. Suzanne can't tell anyone, not even her parents. Suzanne agrees to it and is soon delivering messages for the French. She could get killed and tortured if she gets caught, but decides it is worth it for freedom. This is an awesome page-turning book, and you will be hooked until the very end. For Freedom: The Story of a French Spy is based on a true story, and Kimberly Brubaker Bradley did a great job of telling the story. I recommend this book to boys and girls ages 10+.
Strawberry Moon (Orca Young Readers)
By Becky Citra
This story takes place in North Canada, in the year of 1838. In this story, a young nine-year-old girl named Ellie gets a visit from her grandmother, who usually stays in England. The girl later finds a baby fox, but when she knows her dad hates foxes, she is unsure if she’ll be able to. She then gets helps from an unexpected person. Who is the person? If you want to know, you’ll have to read this book! I would definitely recommend this book to others, because it left me with a great feeling that I don’t think I can replace. The sensory imagery contributed to this, and so did the characters’ dialogues! In this book, Ellie really changed as a character. She used to be extremely resentful of her grandmother, and didn’t really like her. But as the book went on, they developed a bond, that was truly unbreakable!
The Holocaust: An End to Innocence
By Seymour Rossel
Have you ever known what it is like to be abused, and not treated like others, and even your family and friends killed? Chances are, you haven’t. The book that I will be talking about is a book written by Seymour Rossel called “The Holocaust” which is about the Holocaust. The Holocaust takes place in Germany 1933-1945. The overall focus of this book is Hitler's actions and basically what he's done. The first conflict in the book that I will be talking about is when Hitler starts to take action when he first started to get the jews to have separate things like separate bathrooms and being in the very back of the bus and things like that. And a second conflict I will be talking about is that all shops owned by jews were destroyed and robbed sometimes harming the owners or even killing them. One of the five interesting facts I will share is that Hitler actually got rejected from an art school more than once which lead his life to fascism. Another fact is that Hitler was once ordered to trim his mustache. A third fact is that Adolf actually loved Disney. A fourth fact is that Hitler was a vegetarian. And for the last fact I will be sharing is that Hitler's favorite actor only died in 2011. As a conclusion, I liked this book because it is very factual and goes through a timeline of Hitler’s actions and it is enjoyable to read. I would recommend this to more mature sixth graders and up because the book give you information about pretty graphic things that happened. This will conclude my book review.

Camp 30
By Eric Walters
Epic Kids World War 2 Story. This Canadian, Action, Historical Fiction sequel to Camp X will blow you away. Eric Walters does an excellent job using characters new, old and fact to put a marvelous non-fiction setting and cool 1943 ish world into his story. Using 50% real characters and setting Eric balances fact and fiction to motivate readers to flip to the next page. The way Eric uses his storytelling skills you know that Jack and George are just pieces in a big game but they think they are only keeping their eyes and ears open. They think they are delivering mail but they are doing much more than that. They are aiding the Canadian army by spying on the Prisoners while aiding the Nazi’s as well. The boys will be tricked, befriended, betrayed and well naturally go on a big adventure from in and out of the Prisoner Of War camp: Camp 30. My favourite character is Little Bill because he is big and important and the boys are always like omg are we in trouble this dude is important. Overall Camp 30 the sequel to Camp X is an amazing book!
Greatest Teams: The Most Dominant Powerhouses in Sports
By Tim Crothers
Great- Being such in an extreme or notable degree. The book that I read was called Greatest Teams by Tim Crothers. This book is a nonfiction book about teams that were really good or successful in their prime. The sports that the teams play for are Football,Basketball,Baseball, and Hockey. My book takes place all over North America it is based from 1988 and before then when those sports started. The main teams it focuses on is the New York Yankees, Boston Celtics, and Montreal Canadiens. Here are some facts from the book is out of the three dynasties the Celtics were the only team that didn’t win a title in the 1990s. Michael Jordan played 7 seasons before he won his first championship. The New York Yankees have won 23 world series titles.Wayne Gretzky holds 56 individual records in the NHL. Mike Bossy registered 50 goals per season for the Islanders. I think that this book is good for people that likes sports and or nonfiction books. Will your favorite team be in this book?
