Marcia's Madness (The Sisters Eight)
By Lauren Baratz-Logsted, Greg Logsted, Jackie Logsted
I like that in every book one of the sisters finds out her power and she gets her gift. And all I will say about Marcia's power is... it took a while for the other sisters to find out her power. (I hope you can find out Marcia's power faster than her sisters did!)This book was a little confusing at first, but now I read it again and it made a lot more sense.

Bird
By Angela Johnson
The title of this story is quite simple “Bird”, which is also the main character’s nickname. Bird is a thirteen-year old runaway child. The reason she ran away is because of her step dad, Cecil, who left Bird and her mom without saying good-bye. Bird surely believes if she goes after him, he will certainly return to them. During the runaway days, bird made some friends. Cecil has a nephew named Ethan, who’s always been sick and lonely. He has just received a heart transplant and is healthier than he’s ever been. Bird becomes his first friend. She also met a boy named Jay, who’s getting over the death of his brother. Three of them are surviving something difficult to bear. I think the writing style of this book is really special. Each chapter is from a different character's perspective (Bird, Ethan or Jay), but by the end of the book, each of the characters are tied together. “Bird" is a beautiful written story and was easy to read. Even though I spent a bit time getting into the characters, I still enjoyed reading it.
