Easter Egg Farm
By Mary Jane Auch
Reviewed by First Grade Students - The Easter Egg Farm is a well written fictional story. The story takes place at the house of Mrs. Pennywort, a strange looking lady with a very long neck. She has five hens, one named Pauline. Whenever Pauline tries to lay a plain egg, her eggs come out looking like whatever she sees. The other hens make fun of her for being different. Some of our favorite eggs she lays are the Mona Lisa egg, the Starry Night egg, and the ballerina egg. We also liked that Pauline’s chickens grew up to look like the egg they hatched out of. We think it would be cool if chickens could really do that! From the story we learned that it’s okay to be different and being different can be cool! At the end of the story Pauline closes her eyes and concentrates on nothing and lays a plain white egg. Her dream finally came true! This is a fun story to read at Easter time or anytime of the year!

Even though I'm not done with this book yet, I recommend it. I can't put my finger on it, but there's something about it that just makes it really good. I haven't read Code Name Verity although I might over the summer. Overall, really interesting.
