The Witch's Boy
By Kelly Barnhill
This book was very surprising, in a good way. When i first began reading it, I was a little bored, and almost considered stopping. But I decided to keep going, and so I finished the book. I am so glad I did! The Witch's Boy had an unique plot, something like which I have never seen before. The main character was Ned, who never spoke much after his twin brother. His mother was a witch, but then she had to travel away unexpectedly. While she is gone bandits show up to steal the magic his family guards. The only way to protect is to use it himself. Then he is kidnapped and must escape. Where is his mother? Why is the army gathering? What does the Bandit King's daughter have to do with anything? I recommend this book to all teens. There is violence, so it shouldn't be read by younger kids.

The Hound of the Baskervilles (A Penguin Classics Hardcover)
By Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Habiba Sallam Hound of Baskervilles Book Review A book that is small in size can never meet the beauty standards of literature and possess its richness in metaphorical comparisons. However, this rule was broken in crime thriller novel written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and titled The Hound of the Baskerville. Sherlock Holmes along with his assistant Watson, notable for their talent in solving mysteries are called upon the moor by James Mortimer to investigate the murder of his patient and family friend. The victim was believed to be murdered by the supernatural hound following the Baskerville curse. This curse is a legend that runs through the family originating from the evil act of Sir Hugo’s when he kidnapped a girl. Upon arrival at the moor after his uncle's tragic murder, Sir Henry Baskerville decides to come back and investigate this curse with Holmes and Watson. To solve the mystery, the all collect different peices of the puzzle after meeting several suspects. One specific suspect was Stapleton whom they were able to track his history and find out that he lied about his sister who was actually his wife. At this point, Holmes digs in and even recognizes that Stapleton actually resembles Hugo's portrait, which might mean a desire for the Baskerville wealth. It has come to Watson that the Barrymore's who were the family servants found a letter signatured LL who was Laura Lyons. They decided to visit her and told her about Stapleton's marriage who spilled the beans about the hound and helped them resolve the curse. Fortunately, Stapleton trained his hound to attack the Baskerville whom was given Sir Henry’s belongings to smell but the younger sibling of the Mrs. Barrymore was dressed in Sir Henry’s clothes. The hound was found killed later when Stapleton instructed the hound to attack Sir Henry, when he was invited to the household. As a naturalist Stapleton treated others as animals as he treated his wife whom he beat after disrespecting and not participating in his plans . After spending a lot of time on the moor and on this case Sherlock Holmes and Watson are winners once again.

Snot Stew
By Bill Wallace
This book's genre is fiction and it was written by Bill Wallace. In the beginning, the mother cat left and the kittens were left alone. Sarah and Ben found Kikki and Toby and got to live with them. Kikki and Toby were outside when they discovered a new place in the small hole. Toby found Butch the dog and started to play with him. The main character is Kikki. Kikki is very shy and does not like adventures. On page 17, it says, "I found a place to hide. " Kikki is very scared and is afraid. Two key events are, first, Sarah and Ben started to play "snot stew". The second key event was when Kikki and Toby were outside and discovered Butch the dog who eats kittens. Kikki changes in the beginning of the story to the end of the story because in the beginning of the story, Kikki is a scared cat but she began to change. Kikki became strong and brave. On page 75, it says, "I felt my long, sharp claws dig into something ." Kikki was risking her life to save Toby. One unanswered question I would like to ask the author is, were did all of the other kittens go after the mother left? The part I most enjoyed about this book is when Kikki saved Toby . I enjoyed this part because it showed bravery of how much she loved him even when he was a bully. I would recommend this book because it is a nice and funny story . It is about friendship. It is fun because it tells people about kindness even in hard times.

The Friendship War
By Andrew Clements
It all starts when Grace discovers an old box of buttons in her grandpa's old mill and then brings it to school. But then when she unawarely starts a fad, things start to go out of control and Grace loses her best friend. So a war is started, and when Grace tries to stop the war, she makes everything worse. I would recommend for ages 10+ I've always liked Andrew Clement's books and this was no exception. I could feel the character's feelings really well and I can relate to Grace from the way she thinks, hypothesizes, and her actions. You know, the way I have so many common things with her is super cool. I would recommend this if you liked the book Stick and Stones or the 14th Goldfish.
