The city of Ember was built as a last refuge for the human race. Two hundred years later, the great lamps that light the city are beginning to flicker. When Lina finds part of an ancient message, she’s sure it holds a secret that will save the city. She and her friend Doon must decipher the message before the lights go out on Ember forever! This stunning debut novel offers refreshingly clear writing and fascinating, original characters.

best book ever

Great book! I loved it!

I loved the writing! Jeanne DuPrau is such a great writer! even if the story and characters stunk I still would have liked it! BUT! the story was great and the wide variety of characters gave this dark city a brightness that wasn't acctually visable! this will always be one of my top obsessions! Great read!

This book was amazing

This book is really interesting because how Doon and Lina figure out how to save everybody in ember if you want to know more read the book.

What would you do if you were surrounded by darkness, and your lights were flickering? Jeanne DuPrau has made the perfect book for you then. Join Lina and Doon on this wonderful adventure.

I would probably only recommend this book to someone who likes Science fiction. But to me I didn't think it was very interesting

This book was a really good book it starts to get interesting mostly at the end of the story I am starting the second one right now too.
