Magnus Chase has seen his share of trouble. Ever since that terrible night two years ago when his mother told him to run, he has lived alone on the streets of Boston, surviving by his wits, staying one step ahead of the police and truant officers.
One day, he's tracked down by an uncle he barely knows-a man his mother claimed was dangerous. Uncle Randolph tells him an impossible secret: Magnus is the son of a Norse god.
The Viking myths are true. The gods of Asgard are preparing for war. Trolls, giants, and worse monsters are stirring for doomsday. To prevent Ragnarok, Magnus must search the Nine Worlds for a weapon that has been lost for thousands of years.
When an attack by fire giants forces him to choose between his own safety and the lives of hundreds of innocents, Magnus makes a fatal decision.
Sometimes, the only way to start a new life is to die . . .

Magnus Chase is the son of a Norse God. The Viking Gods are preparing for war. Magnus lives alone in the streets of Boston, avoiding Police men and Truant officers, and then he meets an uncle he barley knows. This was a really good book, and I would recommend it to anyone who reads the Percy Jackson series.

If you are a Percy Jackson fan, which I am, you will love this book series. Instead of a spin off of Greek mythology, it is a spin off of Norse mythology-so all the vikings and stuff like that. It is about homeless Magnus Chase, and he dies fighting this fire monster guy, so he is taken to Hotel Valhalla - a place for heroes that died in battle, waiting for the final battle of the world - Ragnarok. During his time at Hotel Valhalla he goes on all kinds of quests to suspend Ragnarok.

Magnus Chase And The Gods Of Asgard book 1: The Sword Of summer is yet another of Rick Riordan's amazing novels. It is about a boy named Magnus Chase who is wanted by someone unknown. The book is a bit long, to be aware. I recommend this book.

As always, Rick Riordan used ancient stories in funny and interesting ways. All of his characters have unique personalities. Magnus, the voice of the book, is sarcastic and entertaining. As a Riordan fan, I liked seeing characters from and references to other in-universe books. I recommend reading Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Heroes of Olympus, and maybe Trials of Apollo before reading this book.

The book opens with 16-year-old Magnus Chase living on the streets of Boston after losing his mother and having no trust in his other relatives. On his birthday, he recognized his uncle on cousin on the street looking for him, and he doesn't know why. Magnus could not control his curiosity and decides to visit Uncle Randolph's house in hope for answers. Magnus learns that he is the son of the Norse god Frey. Because he somehow retrieved a magic sword from the harbor, he was killed by a fire giant and sent to the afterlife in Hotel Valhalla. He goes on a mission with his friends to find the sword before it is too late.

Another great start to another great series by Rick Riordan! You'll find this series hilarious with new characters, (with a few crossovers as well) and more problems that can only be solved by the power of sass!

Wow! This is a really cool book- Magnus is the son of a God - I won’t say which one, but let me say it’s a really...um....interesting God. Magnus thought his real parents were the ones who told him to run away from his house. This book is by Rick Riordan, who is very well known for his books about Greek Gods and Godesses, and also the amazing 39 Clues! Lemme just say - if you love Greek Gods and Godesses, Mystery, Adventure, you absolutely have to read it!

Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard Book 1 The Sword of Summer is a book like Percy Jackson but even better. It has mystery and its intense to read and I like to read this book over and over again.

Since I was little I was always so into Greece and Greek Mythology. I have always had the urge to read this series but I never thought that it was interesting. However, one day, I decided to read one book from Percy Jackson and it just blew my mind. There was magic, action, adventure, mystery right out of one book. Each quest in the story was more better than the last. Since then one of my most favorite authors is Rick Riordan. The second you read one book, you can't keep it down. These fascinating novels are the best books I have ever read. I can't wait to read Magnus Chase!
