“Fresh and funny.” ―New York Times Book Review

Newbery Honor author Shannon Hale and New York Times bestselling illustrator LeUyen Pham join forces in this graphic memoir about how hard it is to find your real friends―and why it's worth the journey.

When best friends are not forever . . .

Shannon and Adrienne have been best friends ever since they were little. But one day, Adrienne starts hanging out with Jen, the most popular girl in class and the leader of a circle of friends called The Group. Everyone in The Group wants to be Jen's #1, and some girls would do anything to stay on top . . . even if it means bullying others.

Now every day is like a roller coaster for Shannon. Will she and Adrienne stay friends? Can she stand up for herself? And is she in The Group―or out?

Has anyone else wondered in the book why jens hair is always in some weird braids that make a sircle and are pined in the back? But I still love this book.

This book is awesome. It’s about a girl named Shannon who has a best friend named Adrienne. Shannon and Adrienne have been best friends since kindergarten. But Adrienne moves away. When Adrienne moves back Shannon is sooo happy. But Adrienne one day just starts to hang out with Jen (the most poplar girl at school) and jens group of friends that are called “the group” every one wanted to be a part of the group. Soon Shannon joins the group along with Adrienne. It was hard for Shannon to stay a part of the group because of Jenny. Jenny was jens best friend but for some reason Jenny hates Shannon’s guts Jenny tells lies about Shannon to Jen so Jenny can stay on top of the group line up. It was so hard for Shannon with all this going on but at she was thankful her best friend Adrienne was their. But then Adrienne moved away and this time she was not coming back. This made it harder and harder to stay in the group for Shannon.shonnon often has trouble keeping track of when she is in and out. Finally Shannon gets to a annoyed with all the stuff going on and she leaves the group. But then shonno runs into another problem she has no friends other than them. No other person wanted to hang out with shonnon. She often was sick to her stomach and looney. But the. She meets two girls that show her what friendship should be like. And Jen starts to feel bad...... read the book to find out more. I love this book sooo much and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did

Very good book. Great for any kids who have axienty/ocd.

Shannon gets in trouble with Jenny. They both want to be with Jen/Jennifer, but there is a lot of trouble after Jen and Shannon go to camp together.

I read this book TONS of times. This book is pretty interesting because I like how Shannon keeps trying really hard to be in the "Group". I also like how Jen doesn't always like to be the alpha. Being the leader of the pack is already hard enough. But the unanswered question is WHY nobody likes Shannon that much. Shannon isn't a nerd. Glasses aren't a big deal. But why? Why did the author show that the characters don't like Shannon a lot in the beginning?
