Which of your characters is most like you?
I wish I could say that I'm clever and mechanically-minded like Cinder, but no―I can't fix anything. I'm much more like Cress, who makes a brief cameo in Cinder and then takes a more starring role in the third book. She's a romantic and a daydreamer and maybe a little on the naïve side―things that could be said about me too―although she does find courage when it's needed most. I think we'd all like to believe we'd have that same inner strength if we ever needed it.
Where do you write?
I have a home office that I've decorated with vintage fairy tale treasures that I've collected (my favorite is a Cinderella cookie jar from the forties) and NaNoWriMo posters, but sometimes writing there starts to feel too much like work. On those days I'll write in bed or take my laptop out for coffee or lunch.
If you were stranded on a desert island, which character from Cinder would you want with you?
Cinder, definitely! She has an internet connection in her brain, complete with the ability to send and receive comms (which are similar to e-mails). We'd just have enough time to enjoy some fresh coconut before we were rescued.
The next book in the Lunar Chronicles is called Scarlet, and is about Little Red Riding Hood. What is appealing to you most about this character as you work on the book?
Scarlet is awesome―she's very independent, a bit temperamental, and has an outspokenness that tends to get her in trouble sometimes. She was raised by her grandmother, an ex-military pilot who now owns a small farm in southern France, who not only taught Scarlet how to fly a spaceship and shoot a gun, but also to have a healthy respect and appreciation for nature. I guess that's a lot of things that appeal to me about her, but she's been a really fun character to write! (The two leading men in Scarlet, Wolf and Captain Thorne, aren't half bad either.)

i decided to read this book because the book, "Cinder", is about a human-looking cyborg. she is a burden by her stepmother. and she wants to go to prince Kai's ball. but she thinks shes different than everyone else.
I decided to read this book because the cover looked really interesting and the blurb really caught my attention. I borrowed this book from the library and I have read it at least 2-3 time. "Cinder" is a very fascinating book and I think that you should try reading it.

This was one of my summer favorites. Cyborg Cinder is a mechanic living in New Beijing and has to deal with not only a mean stepmother but an alien race getting ready to attack earth.
i cant really explain what this book is about other than to say she has a mean stepmother and a mean stepsister. it is a really weird take on Cinderella but i loved it. oh ya and cinder is a cyborg, and this book takes place in the future way after world war 4 !!!!!!
Cinder is a wonderful book. I couldn't get enough of it! I loved how Cinder had to deal with her evil stepmother and her sisters. *Spoilers* It was wonderful to read how she felt about her sister dying, and how she reacted when she figure out she was Princess Salene. I absolutely LOVED this book! I recommend it to all ages. I think every type of person would like it.
It was really good so for anyone out there who likes Science-fiction books you should definately read it.
Cinder is a cyborg, part human part android, as well as New Beijing’s renowned mechanic. One day, Prince Kai, the Emperor’s son shows up at her booth, asking her to fix an android named Nainsi. He jokingly calls it a “a matter of security” but Cinder is suspicious. As the yearly ball comes close, Letumosis, a plague called “the blue fever” is spreading more and when it comes in contact with someone, it is fact that they will die quickly. The Emperor of New Beijing has the plague, and his death is close. But Prince Kai isn’t quite ready to be Emperor, with Letumosis all around and Queen Levana attempting to form a marriage alliance. Queen Levana is the ruler of the Lunars, a colony of people that lives on the moon, and wants to form a marriage alliance. When news spreads about Levana coming to New Beijing soon, everyone panics. Kai knows that she is coming right after his father’s death, when he will be weakest, and she will try to get her to accept the alliance. But Kai plans on resisting, just like his father did. But what could happen with Cinder and Kai, who are both in love after just one time at Cinder’s booth? In an intense twisted Cinderella story, who will Kai invite to the ball? Part action, part love and part loss, Marissa Meyer will win fans in this thrilling debut and epic start to The Lunar Chronicles. My thoughts about the book: Cinder! Oh my gosh! This was an amazing book. I loved how it incorporated the original fairytale really well, and the writing was wonderful. The setting was very well played out, and you had a very vivid picture in your head. The cover is so wonderful; that is what made me pick up the book. I am growing on sci-fi; I used to not read sci-fi that much, but now that I’m getting into it I really enjoy it. The first 100 pages confuse you JUST a little bit (it could go into more detail about hovers and stuff like that), but other than that it was totally worth reading. Marissa Meyer has captured me as her fan with her enthralling writing, and she will lure me in to read the next book she writes. Also, I really liked the relationship between Cinder and Kai; it’s hard to explain why I like it, but I do.
I have to say...this was an intresting book. So Cinder is forced to work as a mechanic for her evil stepmother with her stepsisters: Pearl and Peony. Unlike Pearl, Peony is actually nice and treats Cinder like a sister. One day, when she's in town at her mechanic stand...the prince Kai, asks her if she can fix his robot which she is delighted to fix. But then, her sister: Peony gets the plague when Cinder is searching for parts for Kai's robot in a junkyard and her stepmom ships her away to a hospital so they can experiment on Cinder, to find a cure for the plague. There's also a ball, Cinder is not planning to go to because she thinks its silly, but she finds herself being forced to go in the end.
Cinder has spent her whole life in her terrible adopted mother's house. What's worse is that she is a social outcast, a cyborg! But one day when she meets the prince, Her life turns upside-down! This futuristic Cinderella story is a great book for all ages!
