This first book in Veronica Roth's #1 New York Times bestselling Divergent trilogy is the novel the inspired the major motion picture starring Shailene Woodley, Theo James, and Kate Winslet. This dystopian series set in a futuristic Chicago has captured the hearts of millions of teen and adult readers.

Perfect for fans of the Hunger Games and Maze Runner series, Divergent and its sequels, Insurgent and Allegiant, are the gripping story of a dystopian world transformed by courage, self-sacrifice, and love. Fans of the Divergent movie will find the book packed with just as much emotional depth and exhilarating action as the film, all told in beautiful, rich language.

One choice can transform you. Beatrice Prior's society is divided into five factions—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). Beatrice must choose between staying with her Abnegation family and transferring factions. Her choice will shock her community and herself. But the newly christened Tris also has a secret, one she's determined to keep hidden, because in this world, what makes you different makes you dangerous.

And don't miss Veronica Roth’s thrilling novel Carve the Mark.

I loved this book. There was barely a paragraph that i didn't find interesting. There was action, comedy, romance, and life threatening events. While I was reading this book, i couldn't put it down. Although there are some intense scenes, over all the book was enjoyable. I highly recommend you read this book.

This book takes place in future Chicago, about a girl who now needs to choose her faction, which is kind of like an occupation.

This is a great start to a great trilogy. Beatrice Prior lives in a futuristic version of Chicago. The world as she knows it is divided into five parts which are called factions. Each faction values a different trait. Abnegation, where Beatrice was born and brought up along with her brother Caleb, is the home of the selfless. Dauntless, a city of black clothed rebels, values the brave. The faction of Erudite houses the wise and intelligent. Candor is the place for honest and truthful people, and Amity is full of peaceful humans. On every child's sixteenth birthday, they choose what faction they will spend the rest of their life in, although first they must take a test to determine which faction they ultimately belong in and are most likely to choose. But Beatrice's results come back inconclusive. They call this Divergent, which means you cannot be controlled. When Beatrice makes the choice of a different faction and renames herself Tris, she must get through a new life that contains many ups, downs and new people, and save civilization as she knows it in the end.

I started this and so far, its really good.

my teacher likes this book :)

If you like the Hunger Game series then here is another trilogy about a young girl put into a dangerous situation. This is an action packed series leading to discussions about our roles in society. Do we follow in our parents foot steps or do we branch out and try something new. Read the book and let me know what you think.
