The top-selling U.K. series for middle-grade readers now crosses the pond!

Meet Tom Gates. When his teachers don’t have their beady eyes on him, he likes to draw pictures and write about stuff, like last summer’s worst camping vacation ever (five merits!), or how much he hates sitting next to nosy Marcus Meldrew, the most annoying boy at school. All Tom really wants is to score tickets to see the best band ever, Dude3, when they come to town, and to impress Amy Porter, who is very nice and smart (but is currently ignoring him). Tom’s teachers think he is easily distracted and "lacks focus," but that’s a bit harsh?—?can he help it if his grumpy big sister, Delia, made him late for school (again), or that last night’s homework had to be sacrificed to stave off a vicious dog attack? Master of excuses, creative storyteller, and middle-school comedian extraordinaire, Tom Gates is guaranteed to get kids turning the pages?—?and keep them laughing.

I read about 3/4 of this book just to make sure it was on my little brothers reading level. It wasn't necessarily for my age but found it pretty cool. When my little brother read it I saw him laughing at most parts and every time he was done reading it for the time being he was still excited about the events in the book, so he shared most of it with me.If my brother liked it then I highly recommend this book for 3rd graders. The drawings by Tom Gates are cool and the way he talks about his older sister is pretty funny.

This book had me laughing throughout the whole story. It had cool and cute doodles and captions with different types of fonts, that was pretty awesome... it also reminded me of the Diary of the Wimpy Kid series, but this book was more hectic and funnier in my opinion. Meet Tom Gates, such a normal guy who loves to doodle, doesn't like to do homework, and of course (almost every brother's #1 priority) annoys his sister. On the first day of school he got Mr. Fullerman, who him right in the front right next to Amy Porter and Marcus Meldrew. His best mate is Derek who he's in a band with called the DOGZOMBIES, and they live close to each other. Tom writes all about his life even about the no-so-fun camping trip! I really liked the character, Mr. Fullerman, because he play a significant and funny role. Once Tom got his Dude3 tickets.. his tickets got destroyed by a (*spoiler*) Will he ever be able to see the Dude3? Who or what destroyed the tickets? Well it's up to you to read and find out. I URGE you guys to read it, trust me it's soooooo hilarious! Enjoy!

Tom Gates is one of those diary guy books lke Life of a Stuntboy and Diary of a Wimpy Kid. The author infuses comedy, drawing, and astory of a boy, Tom Gates. Meet Tom Gates and adventure through his life concerning his crush, school, Dude 3, and more.

This book is awesome it is all about this boy name Tom Gates, who tells about his natural life and his best group called DUDE3! He has this wired guy in his class 5F named Marcus and calls him a wiredo. Tom also tells this teacher who has beady eyes named Mr Fullerman that always look close to Tom espcially he loves doddling which another word of drawing and has this wired sister named Dila, who loves wearing glasses and very silent and wired, Than when ever he does work he copys this intelligent girl named Amy. He has this best freind named Derek who his next door neighbour. This book made me laugh must read don't miss out.

This is a cool book, it was a little kiddish, but was still really good and funny, my younger brother read it and he really loves it! He's read all of them in the series!!! But, anyway, you should READ IT!

This book is really funny, and is pretty much a better, British version of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. It has stupid band names, faked notes, and evil sibling pranks. What could be better?

This is a good book. it is kind of like diary of a wimpy kid. It was funny to.This kid in the book was a really good artist. i liked the way how he drawed the pictures in the book.

very funny. I read a lot of middle school books, and this doesn't look like a good year. Tom Gates is a boy that is in middle school, but mostly doodles and writes about his life and experiences.

This book is a type of a diary and its about this kid named Tom Gates who LOVES to doodle and who has a band with his BFF called Dog Zombies. The pictures / drawings are really cool i got inspired to draw them myself. I want to read all the books in this series.👍👍👍
