    1. The Stanford researchers were trying to find the answer to how long is an average kid's memory. a. It was important to know because some teachers would like to know things like that. 2. They got a group of 28 kids from ages 7-9 and had them take a " math test.". Then a year after that they took the same kids a did the same test. This time, the kids were better at memorizing the facts because their memory was long term. So they did the same thing to the the same kids when they were adults, and they were even better because their memory got longer as they got older. 3. The kids got a longer memory as they got older. a. Dr. Menon plans on investigating even farther. Critical Thinking Question: Learning the basics of any subject is really important because then you can do better in life because you know your facts.

1.The UAE decided to build Masdar city because they wanted a city that didn't rely on energy to sustain it.2.Some of the features are that they have self-driving pods and mushroom things that bring down air into the streets.3.People think that Masdar will never be completed because it estimated to cost 20 billion dollars. The author doesn't think the experiment will go bust because it can still be used in older countries like New York and London. Critical Thinking Challenge: The driver-less pods would be great for our city because all of our streets are really busy

What is Masdar City? Why did the UAE decide to build it?Masdar city is a energy saving city many believe it's going to be the city of the future I HOPE IT WILL!It will solve all traffic problems. What are some of the features that help reduced the city's energy and water needs? The features they have are that they use solar panels & plant towers to help with energy. Then came the challenge of conserving water, which is of ultra importance given that Abu Dhabi gets an average of just 2.5 inches of rain annually. In Masdar, 80% of "greywater" from washing machines, sinks, baths, and showers, is purified and re-cycled Why do some people believe that Masdar City will never be completed? Why does the author believe that the experiment is still successful?!Most people believe that it will cost to much money, but she believes if other cites participate it just might be pulled off!

1.What is Masdar City? Why did the UAE decide to build it?The UAE decided to build Masdar city because Masdar will be the world's first carbon neutral city. 2.What are some of the features that help reduced the city's energy and water needs?Masdar, 80% of "greywater" from washing machines, sinks, baths, and showers, is purified and re-cycled. 3.Why do some people believe that Masdar City will never be completed? Why does the author believe that the experiment is still successful? Some people think Masdar city will never be completed because of the cost. The Author thinks it will be successful because Masdar City does provide some interesting design innovations. 4.Which one of the innovative energy or water conservation techniques being used at Masdar could help your city or town the most? Why? If everything is motion activated it would save a lot of energy.

    1. Masdar city is the world's first carbon neutral city. a. UAE decided to build it so they don't harm the environment. 2.Some of the features of Masdar city are: they use electric pods instead of cars; They use wind tunnels for air conditioning; and they use a tower plant to absorb sunlight. 3. Some people believe Masdar won't be completed because it is a very complex project and it costs 20 billion dollars. a. The author thinks the project will be completed because people are putting lots of effort into it.

    1. Masdar is a city that is just outside the most unlikely of locations-the oil-rich Abu Dhabi. It runs without carbon, and it only uses natural energy. The UAE decided to build it because they rely on the oil wells, and the officials are well aware that the oil wells will eventually run dry, leaving them with no choice, but to resort to renewable sources of energy. 2. In Masdar, the "greywater' gets recycled. The water from washing machines, sinks, baths, and showers gets purified and recycled so it can be used again. In order to minimize wastage of water or electricity, the designers eliminated faucet handles and light switches inside buildings. Instead, everything is motion activated! Officials say that this feature has reduced electricity consumption by 51%, and water usage by 55%. 3. Some people think Masdar will never be completed because of how much it costs to build it. Over the past six years, it has only been completed about 15%. The author believes that the experiment is still successfull because the UAE has come up with many clever ideas that other cities can use. 4. I think that the thing that would help our city most is to get the "greywater" recycled and to make the faucets and light switches motion-activated.
