My sister recommended this book to me and even though i had my doubts i found myself hooked onto every page. Unlike the other books in the series this is more revolved around Valentines Day then a crime. It shows you lots of great poems, and ways you can write your own. I would recommend this book to poetry lovers, fans of the series, and mainly girls who are in 5th-8th grade. The book has many twists and turns from writing on the bathroom wall, to mysterious Valentine's Day candy showing up.

This one looks like something we should watch in class. Its more of history lesson rather than a "hollywood" movie to see on the big screen

When I started reading this book, I wasn't so sure about it. It's about kids that are a couple years younger than I am. (They are in fourth grade) But after the first couple chapters, I really started to enjoy it. The Candy Smash is the 4th book in "The Lemonade War Series", and I haven't yet read the first three books. Though I would recommend reading them, in my opinion, you can still understand The Candy Smash without knowing the previous adventures. Something special about this story that sets it apart from others is its poetry. I have never really been a person for poems, but the ones in this story are amazing! I was very impressed by all the poems used in the story. Some of them were written by famous authors, but others were "written" by the characters. I also appreciated the "poetry terms" in the back of the book, I was not familiar with some that were used in the story such as consonance and slant rhyme, but the definitions given for them were easy to understand. Overall, I would say The Candy Smash is a sweet little Valentine's Day story about love written by a terrific author, Jacqueline Davies.
