Jake Tanski is a good, smart kid but he doesn't always make the best decisions. In fact, his mom is at the end of her rope and decided to give him the choice between going to military school or living with his grandpa for a year. Both seem like horrible choices but he decides to go with the least worst - living with his grandpa for a year. He actually starts to do good in the small town of Rogers city. He even makes friends with a few people and develops a "small" crush on the Jazmyne, a girl who lives next door to his grandpa's house. The world all of a suddenly comes crashing down when the horrendous events of 9/11 happens. Jake starts to think of his father's death 9 years prior. With the help of his grandpa will be able to become a good guy. And will be be able to help Jazmyne through a terrible time in her life? I highly recommend you to read this sad but amazing book.
