Katie Just Desserts (Cupcake Diaries)

Katie Just Desserts (Cupcake Diaries)

By Coco Simon

This is my favorite book in the Cupcake Diaries series ever written by Coco Simon! In this bittersweet novel, Katie Brown's father reaches out to her after years of distance and offers an internship at his famous restaurant, Chez Donald. While Katie knows it's a great opportunity, she can't help feeling that awkwardness may ruin this job. It is a once-in-a-lifetime offer, though, so she accepts and tries it out. She begins to start warming up to the job when suddenly, she cuts her finger and needs stitches in the Chez Donald kitchen! Much to her chagrin, it's her mom's boyfriend Jeff who brings her to the hospital, not her actual dad, who mutters an excuse about "lunch hour" and "busy." Katie is extremely grateful to Jeff but feels infinitely hurt that her dad prioritized his business over her, his own daughter. So, it really comes as no surprise that Katie feels overwhelmed and insecure when she meets her dad's three new "perfect blonde" daughters. On top of it all, Jeff has decided to propose to her mom! Can Katie deal with all the changes in her life, or will these sudden disruptions push her over the edge?

Has anyone read this book? P.S. why does it look interesting when I haven't read the book.

Rescued

Rescued

By Eliot Schrefer

Rescued was a heartwarming story about two unlikely brothers John, and his pet orangutan Raja. John and Raja spent years closely together after John's business-man father brought him home as a pet. John and Raja did everything together; eat and play video games and exercise. But John and Raja are growing up, and troubles ensue. Then when John's parents are divorced, John and Raja are split up. Two years go by without them being able to see each other. Then John and his mom find out that John's dad is having financial difficulty, is moving, and selling Raja to a zoo. John goes to say a final goodbye, but finds that his companion is no longer a cute baby, but an adult orangutan who is lonely and angry. And things get even worse when John visits Raja in the zoo-and finds out it is more like a prison. So John and Raja are on the run. Will the two regain the friendship they had growing up? Will John find a home for Raja? This book was inspirational, even if it was predictable. I would recommend this book to animal lovers, and probably for older readers. I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.

The Magic Trap (The Lemonade War Series)

The Magic Trap (The Lemonade War Series)

By Jacqueline Davies

I've read all the books in the Lemonade Series and LOVE all of them! I like the Lemonade War a little more, but I think that the new book in the series, The Magic Trap, is REALLY good. I liked it because in the other four books you only hear and hardly see the Treski's dad but in this book he is there almost the whole time, and it is interesting how different Jessie and Evan are around him. In this book, Evan is practicing magic tricks. Their mom needs to go on a trip, and their dad stays with them. He suggests Evan throw a magic show. All is well, and Jessie and Evan are just warming up to their dad when disaster strikes and some unexpected things happen bringing the magic show to their last priority and family first. It seems predictable in the middle, but you'll never guess what happens in the end. I hope everyone will enjoy this book as much as I did!

13 Gifts - Audio

By Wendy Mass

This is the 3rd book in the Willow Falls series written by Wendy Mass. In this book Tara is forced to visit her mom's home town, Willow Falls, due to an incident involving a stolen goat, a can of pepper spray, and the principal. At first Tara's bummed. But after arriving at Willow Falls Tara is starting to feel a little bit better. For the first time, she's making new friends, she and her cousin are finally getting along, she might meet Jake Harrison ( a teenage movie idol) and she's even directing a play! But when Tara learns the real reason she came to Willow Falls she's not so happy anymore. What will happen? This book teaches you the real meaning being family and friends. Read the book to find out! Happy Reading!

Big Cat, Little Cat

Big Cat, Little Cat

By Elisha Cooper

Elisha Cooper may have little words in her stories, but each word speaks meaningfully and has a meaning equivalent to a hundred words. Basically, this is a true tale of friendship good enough to move on for generations. In this book, a lonely, big cat who lives alone gats a new cat. Together, they play and eat and sleep, and give each other company. But friendships may not last forever, and the big cat leaves the little cat. The little cat, now a bigger cat, gets a new cat member, and it is up to the bigger cat to pass their friendship down.

The Homework Machine

The Homework Machine

By Dan Gutman

Do you like doing homework? Well, this book takes care of that problem. It is about a group of kids (called the D-squad) that use a homework machine to get their work done. The name of the kid that invented the machine is a boy named Brenton, who is quite unusual. Brenton is a super intelligent kid and is a computer genius! The D-squad name the machine "Belch" because if anyone found out, the Homework Machine would get them in a LOT of trouble. They swore to not tell anybody any information about the machine. Eventually, the truth came out. I would rate this book 5 stars because of the suspense and personalities of the characters. One of the unique features in this book is that the story is written in point of view so you know how each character feels. I would like to give credit to Yetiman789 because he did this review with me.

Emily Windsnap and the Castle in the Mist

Emily Windsnap and the Castle in the Mist

By Liz Kessler

In the third book of the Emily Windsnap series, she finds a diamond ring on the ocean seabed that happens to also be Neptune's magical wedding ring. When Neptune finds out that Emily had the ring he cursed her and said that when the moon is full, she would be either a mermaid and live with her father or would be a human and live with her mother.

Annie (An Annie Book)

Annie (An Annie Book)

By Thomas Meehan

This book (and play) is AMAZING. I was in the play and it's my favorite musical ever. This is about a little girl named Annie who learns that if you live a bad life, you can power through it and make "tomorrow" come once and for all.
