Goodbye, Mr. Terupt

Goodbye, Mr. Terupt

By Rob Buyea

bsc

The gang is back! Lexie and Peter are back to their on and off relationship, and when Lexie sees an ad on tv for a test that she can take to find out if she has the same cancer gene as her mom, she gets it. The thing is, Lexie's too worried to see the results. Peter is still the comedy king, but when the gang learns some shocking information, he's giving someone the silent treatment. Jeffery really wants to make the varsity wrestling team, but when he needs to do something to get onto the team and because of it, breaks up with Anna- is it worth it? Anna isn't doing so well, now that her mom and Charlie are getting married and she gets neglected by her mom as well as Jeffery's treating her bad. Danielle is switching to an insulin pump for her diabetes, and it's getting kind of hard for her. As well, maybe she and another boy are closer than they think... Luke is doing a science project, but he's also learning that he seems to like someone. Jessica is into poetry, but when her dad comes back- does that mean her mom and him will get back together? In the conclusion to the series, the gang makes you laugh, cry, and realize what friendship really means. Happy reading!

Saving Mr. Terupt

Saving Mr. Terupt

By Rob Buyea

Looking for a good book to read? Well Saving Mr. Terupt by Rob Buyea is an amazing book to read. I give it 5 out of 5 stars. Saving Mr. Terupt is a realistic fiction book that is set in the students current middle school that they are attending and Snow Hill School in Mr. Terupt's classroom. This book is told from 7 different characters points of view. Saving Mr. Terupt is the 3rd book in the series. In comparison to Mr. Terupt Falls Again, the 2nd book in the series, the stories involve the same characters, Jeffery, Anna, Alexia, Peter, Luke, Jessica, and Danielle. Also, the 2 book's setting and story are different. This book shows an amazing relationship that students can have with a teacher that means a lot to them. For example in the text it says, " It was time for more drastic measures. There was no way I was allowing this to happen. These people had made a mistake." This shows that they have a strong relationship because it shows that when the results came in and Mr. Terupt was going to loose his job they were prepared to do anything it takes to get it back. This book is about a group of friends that suffer through multiple challenges along the book. For example, a big fight they had with each other, trying to save their favorite teacher and much more. Although, they might suffer through a lot of challenges, they also have a lot of fun moments too. Like, the "Everything Fair", planing their campaigns in Mr. Terupt's classroom and much more. If you liked Because of Mr. Terupt or Mr. Terupt Falls Again, then you would like this one too. I would recommend reading the books in order so, you would have a better understanding of the plots and relationships between the characters. Someone that would like this book are mostly students and kids ages between 10-14 years old because I think that they would relate more.

The Lemonade Crime (The Lemonade War Series)

The Lemonade Crime (The Lemonade War Series)

By Jacqueline Davies

I rate this book as fair since even though the protagonist, Evan Treski, is given his stolen $208 back, the mystery is too easy for me to have to think deeply for. The author made the criminal too blatant and nobody else can be blamed. Jacqueline Davies made the criminal, Scott Spencer, take too long to be found guilty of stealing Evan’s money since everybody knows Scott stole it, but nobody has proof that will convince the judge of Evan’s class’s court system. I appreciate that the author made one of Evan’s trusted classmates, Megan Moriarty, betray him. Megan reveals how Scott should be innocent, which surprises Evan and his younger sister, Jessie, since Megan is Jessie’s best friend. Also, Jessie and Evan are in the same class, so they don’t fight with Megan. It surprised me that Megan helps Scott instead of Evan, only since Scott lets Megan try his new Xbox 20/20, which Evan and Jessie think Scott spends the stolen $208 on. Scott let everybody in the class try it, which could have made everybody want to defend Scott, otherwise, they will not be able to play with it anymore. I also appreciate that the author made a jury of Evan’s class and keep it a secret. I think this is a childish way to end the book since Evan and Scott act as friends again when Evan blames himself and Scott on breaking Scott’s dad’s TV, when only Scott broke it. To repay him, Scott gives Evan the stolen $208 back, and Evan, Jessie, and Scott signed a pact, which has them swear that they will never tell any adult about what actually happened to Evan’s money. I don’t appreciate that in the resolution, everything is solved then since it isn’t interesting. The author has Evan defend Scott, and Scott apologizes for stealing Evan’s money by returning it. When Evan asks Scott why he stole it in the first place, Scott doesn't have an answer and he doesn't even use it. Scott doesn't buy the Xbox 20/20 with the stolen money, but his parents did.

A Dog Called Homeless

A Dog Called Homeless

By Sarah Lean

I love this book! For those who haven't read it, it's so good! Here's what happened: Cally Fisher lives with her brother Luke, and her Dad. Her mom died in a car accident on Dad's birthday. When Cally's family visits the grave one day, Cally thinks she sees her mom standing there in a raincoat (It's either yellow or red, I forgot which color) she tries to tell the family, but Dad says she's just making people upset. Later in the book, the family moves to an apartment because Dad's job is getting poor. Luke is not happy about it. Their neighbor has a boy about Cally's age named Sam. He's blind and mostly deaf. When Cally sees her mom again, she has a dog with her, but the dog is real. He's a gray Irish Wolfhound. Cally falls in love with the dog and she thinks the dog can also see her mom. While Dad was somewhere in town one day, Cally meets a homeless man named Jed. Jed is kind and he likes to have the Irish Wolfhound as company. When Cally asks Dad about the Irish Wolfhound, he says that he doesn't want a dog in their apartment. Cally is disappointed at that news, but she is very determined to keep the dog as a pet. At school, Cally's friends are getting distant from her. She can sometimes see the gray dog, or Homeless, she calls it, running around in the school yard. Cally has also learned how to communicate with Sam, and they go on adventures together. At the end of the book, Jed tells Cally's family that before Mom died she told Jed to give Homeless to them. How Sweet! 🐕Overall, it's a great book and I totally reccomend it. Have a good day!

Baxter is Missing: A Branches Book (Owl Diaries #6)

Baxter is Missing: A Branches Book (Owl Diaries #6)

By Rebecca Elliott

I think this book is so funny. Eva(the main cairicter) always puts owls in her words. Baxter her bat goes missing. They make a club called the Baxter bunch. Eva and her club look everywhere for Baxter. I liked it because it teaches a lesson to close your window if you have a pet that sleeps in your room that can fly! I think all kids around the world would enjoy this book because it is a really funny book. PS It is a series!

Claudia and Mean Janine (Baby-Sitters Club)

Claudia and Mean Janine (Baby-Sitters Club)

By Ann M. Martin

This book was great. Having a sister, myself, I could easily relate with Claudia. Claudia and the BSC have big plans for this summer. They are going to have a play group in the neighborhood. Meanwhile, Claudia and her sister Janine are fighting more than usual. They just can't seem to see eye-to-eye on things. The problem is that Claudia and Janine are super different. While Claudia is failing school, Janine has a GPA. Claudia thinks that going to the mall with Stacey is a great day, Janine would rather sit in her room on her computer. But then Claudia's and Janine's grandma who lives with them, Mimi, has a stroke. Everything changes. Now Claudia has to spend her summer watching Mimi, instead of doing the play group with the other girls in the BSC. Claudia and Janine, for once, decide to look past their differences and come together to get Mimi back on her feet and doing well. I liked this book because Ann M. Martin does a wonderful of making Claudia and Janine realistic. I was able to see myself in Claudia's shoes easily. I also liked how sweet it was. It was very emotional, but it was not too heavy. A good mixture of heartwarming and fun, I would say. I suggest it if you like babysitting, drama, friendship, and family bonding.

Shadows on Society Hill: An Addy Mystery (American Girl Mysteries)

Shadows on Society Hill: An Addy Mystery (American Girl Mysteries)

By Evelyn Coleman

This book was amazing. The best mystery book I have ever read. Addy and her family are given the opportunity for a better life. After Addy's father was offered a job by a rich man, Addy and her family get to move to a nice side of neighborhood, in the rich man's home next to the home he lives in. Addy and her family's future is looking bright for once. After escaping from slavery, her family has gone through a lot. Now, they will be able to settle into a nice home with a nice home. But then Addy is accused of stealing by the rich man's soon to be wife, Miss Elizabeth. To top it off, Addy finds a spy living in the underground floor of the rich man's home. How will Addy be able to clear her name? Or is Miss Elizabeth hiding something? Based in the mid 1800s, this story takes you on a historic and mysterious adventure. It also gives you the perspective of a newly freed slave. This book also shows the hardship that newly freed slaves had to go through, even after being freed. I really, and strongly recommend this book. It was heartwarming and it also made me grateful for all the opportunities and privileges, I take for granted. I suggest this if you like history, mysteries, and family. Happy reading!
