Captain Awesome to the Rescue!

Captain Awesome to the Rescue!

By Stan Kirby

This book was so great, that I love it. I liked how it was written when Turbo, the hamster, was "hamster-napped". I love queen Stinkypants, who is a baby. Everyone was amazed when Captain Awesome came in the room. Charlie is Captain's best friend.

The Go-for-Gold Gymnasts: Winning Team (Go-for-Gold Gymnasts, The)

The Go-for-Gold Gymnasts: Winning Team (Go-for-Gold Gymnasts, The)

By Dominique Moceanu, Alicia Thompson

Brittany Lee Morgan is an elite gymnast. She and her family moved to Texas so she could go to a world-class gymnastics facility. When she gets there, she comes up with some ideas of conversation starters to talk to the girls there. However, her intentions are mixed up and it causes conflicts between herself and her teammates. When she keeps doing things her way and not listening to her coach, she risks losing her spot on the team as well as almost getting injured. Not only that, but her friend from her old school confessed to her that she spoiled her party when she made everything about her. Even though Brittany seems to have ruined all her friendships, she has not messed up the friendship with her friend Jessie. However, when Brittany notices something about her that nobody has yet, Jessie asks Brittany to keep it a secret. Brittany betrays her trust and tells a coach as well as her team. She now has another conflict within herself- did she do the right thing by telling the coach, or was it wrong of her to tell a secret that wasn't hers to tell? How will she make things right in the end? Overall, I enjoyed this book and I recommend it to people who are interested in gymnastics or like to read books that are realistic about real life situations. I rate this 5/5.

Way of the Warrior Kid: From Wimpy to Warrior the Navy SEAL Way: A Novel

Way of the Warrior Kid: From Wimpy to Warrior the Navy SEAL Way: A Novel

By Jocko Willink

***Spoiler Alert*** When I read Way of the Warrior Kid I think that it means that you need to preserve and not give up. In the beginning of the story Marc, the main character in the story, can’t do any pull ups and doesn't know how to swim. Marc wishes he could swim and do pull ups. Later in the story, Marc’s uncle who is a Navy Seal, teaches him how to do pull ups and learn how to swim. I can relate to the story because I have to persevere in Cheer every time my team does our routine. That’s how I can relate to the story. I learned that you have to keep practicing or you can forget. In the book Marc has to keep practicing pull ups and how to swim. This is what I learned from Way of the Warrior Kid. In the book, one of my favorite parts is when Marc learns to swim. He makes a deal with his uncle that by the end of summer he will jump off the bridge with his uncle. By the end of summer, Marc will jump off the bridge, but it took a lot of guts because the bridge was really high up. In this scene he persevered a lot. In the beginning Marc wasn't going to jump off the bridge. In the end he jumped off the bridge and Marc had a lot of fun. I can relate to this because when I was little I went into a lake when ice was still on the water so that took a lot of guts also. Marc changed because he was being bullied at school and did not want to get bullied any more for not being able to swim or do any pull ups. Being bullied was the right motivation to get him on his feet, moving. I hope you enjoy reading Way of the Warrior Kid.

The Glass Gauntlet (The Blood Guard Series)

The Glass Gauntlet (The Blood Guard Series)

By Carter Roy

The Glass Gauntlet is the second book in the Blood Guard series. Ronan Truelove barely made it out alive when he first encountered the Bend Sinister and its head-who happens to be his father. Now he is determined to become part of the good guys, otherwise known as the Blood Guard. The Blood Guard is a secret society with some pretty awesome abilities that are dedicated to protect the Pure. The Pure are 36 souls who are necessary to the world's survival. And his best friend Greta happens to be a Pure-although she doesn't know it. Ronan is sent on his first mission with Greta and their friend Sammy along with one of the Guard, Jack. But the trio aren't thrilled about it. Their assignment is to visit a strange school-and take a series of tests called the Glass Gauntlet while Jack searches for an old relic. Where is the adventure in that? Turns out, more dangerous than they thought. They aren't taking boring pencil-and-paper tests, but are instead facing off in heated competitions with ruthless opponents. Everyone is more than they seem. Who can Ronan trust? This book was very adventurous and had high-stakes. I never knew what was going to happen next, and there were twists and turns around every corner. I can't wait to read the next book! I recommend this book to adventure lovers, and fans of the first book. I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.
