Heart of a Dolphin

By Catherine Hapka

Leyla

This book was given to me from my teacher and I hate reading but after reading this book it changed my mind about reading and so far this summer I have read 13 books. I really liked this book. If you have ever wondered what it is like to have a dolphin as a friend read this book and you will find out!

The Lord of Opium

The Lord of Opium

By Nancy Farmer

The next installment of the Newberry winning book series; House of the Scorpion, is here, and it's just as good as the original! The lord of opium once follows the adventures of Matt, as El Patron has kicked the bucket, and now Matt, being his clone, is now the new lord of opium. This book is the perfect balance of dystopian fiction, science fiction, and young adult fiction. As I was reading this I was very relieved that Nancy Farmer's exquisite storytelling weaved the loose ends of the last book into a perfect braid of relief. One downside of this book however is that I felt like the climax was a bit rushed, but hey, nothing is completely perfect. This book is a perfect conclusion to, in my opinion, one of the best books of all time, unless... a sequel? Well, probably not, but maybe if I write enough letters, and write enough online reviews, that'll happen.

The Face on the Milk Carton

The Face on the Milk Carton

By Caroline B. Cooney

3/10, not an amazing book the plot was pretty run on it was more romance than mystery. But the book is not completely terrible. The chapters are pretty long so if you like the chapters to be a little short this is not the book for you. But the background story is great, a teenager named Janie thinks her parents aren't her real parents and decides to investigate does she find out the truth or left curious. Trust me that wasn't even off the back of the book I just like sounding like one of those fancy people sometimes. Overall don't think the book is for everyone.

The Leaving

The Leaving

By Tara Altebrando

I really enjoyed reading this book. It had a very good level of suspense and leveled out between the three characters in the beginning. Avery, is just wondering where her brother, Max could be, hopefully alive. This book makes you want to keep reading until you have to make yourself do something else. This book can relate to real life because some kids out there get this done to them. They get stolen or lost and have to find home again. Overall, it was a great book.

Burn Baby Burn

Burn Baby Burn

By Meg Medina

I just finished reading this book, and I really liked it. It takes place in the late '70s in New York, when the Son of Sam was on the loose, murdering unsuspecting people. It was a difficult time in the history of New York (which I just learned, although my aunt remembers), and the main character was also facing challenges in her own family. I learned a lot from this book, not just about history, but also about standing up for what's right as well as yourself.

Shooting Kabul

Shooting Kabul

By N. H. Senzai

This book was very unique. I thought that the feeling brought out at different times in this book was very powerful. This book was about a young boy named Fadi, who lived in Kabul but has to come back to America to get away from the war currently happening. He lost Mariam, his little sister, on the way there. They do as much as they can to find her, while still living life in America. I loved the parts with suspense and the aftermath of it, like when they lost Mariam, but it got a little boring at times like when Fadi was at school being bullied by generic bully characters. This book feels very real to me as if this actually happened. (It is based on a real story, but not all of it is real.) I would recommend this book to people who like tragic stories that are based on very real problems.

When God Made You

When God Made You

By Matthew Paul Turner

cool book it brings out my childhood ;___;

Backlash

Backlash

By Sarah Darer Littman, Sarah Littman

This is the type of book you can re-read over and over again and it will never get boring. Sarah Darer Littman mixed how its like to be a teen with troubles and what its like to be the one causing the troubles. Its a must read!

The Upstairs Room

The Upstairs Room

By Johanna Reiss

I didn't like this book at all!!!! I thought it was very boring and it said the same inappropriate word many times. I would recommend this book to many 6th or 7th graders starting to learn WWll, but if you already read a book about WWll or know about it, this book would not be right for you.
