The Treasure of the Sea: A Geronimo Stilton Adventure (Thea Stilton: Special Edition #5)

The Treasure of the Sea: A Geronimo Stilton Adventure (Thea Stilton: Special Edition #5)

By Thea Stilton

I dicided to buy this book from my school's book fair, and then, when I read it, I almost immidiatly wanted a refund. This book's cover is SO lying. Its cover made me think that they would have pretty wetsuits that kind of looked like party dresses, but they never DID wear those! All they wore were white wetsuits with a colored stripe on it! That is not even close to what is on the cover! I do not recommend this book. Don't be fooled by its cover like I did!

Fly Away Home

Fly Away Home

By Eve Bunting

This book is about a little boy named Andrew and his dad who have to live at the airport because they are homeless. They try not to get caught, so they move around every day and try to fit in with other people. They do their laundry in the sink. Andrew’s dad works as a custodian. They discover more homeless people and families in the airport, and a bird that keeps trying to leave. This book describes a lot about what homeless people have to go through. This is a really good book with great life lessons, like being thankful for what you have. People who have been homeless or know people who are might be very affected by this book.

The Wishing Stone: #1 Dangerous Dinosaur

The Wishing Stone: #1 Dangerous Dinosaur

By Lorana Hoopes

This book is about a little boy named Spencer who doesn’t like to read. He’s given a magic stone that sends him into whatever story he’s reading. He reads a story with a dinosaur, and is sent into that story. During his time there, he helps the characters in the story. This book is pretty good. The characters have a lot of personality, but I didn’t feel satisfied at the end. I would recommend this book though.

Unbroken (The Young Adult Adaptation): An Olympian's Journey from Airman to Castaway to Captive

Unbroken (The Young Adult Adaptation): An Olympian's Journey from Airman to Castaway to Captive

By Laura Hillenbrand

This is by far the best WWII true story I've read, and I've read quite a few. Louie Zamperini was training for the 1940 Tokyo Olympics when they were suddenly cancelled, and the nation was at war. Louie enlisted in the Air Force and soon was in Hawaii, in the aftermath of Pearl Harbor. His incredible tale includes extremely aggressive sharks, world records for time as a castaway, prisoner of war camps, sickness, injuries, mental illness, and redemption. Before reading this book, I wasn't as aware of the extent of Japan's involvement in WWII. It is fairly descriptive: I recommend to 12+.
