The People of Sparks picks up where The City of Ember leaves off. Lina and Doon have emerged from the underground city to the exciting new world above, and it isn’t long before they are followed by the other inhabitants of Ember. The Emberites soon come across a town where they are welcomed, fed, and given places to sleep. But the town’s resources are limited and it isn’t long before resentment begins to grow between the two groups. When anonymous acts of vandalism push them toward violence, it’s up to Lina and Doon to discover who’s behind the vandalism and why, before it’s too late.

This is an AMAZING sequel. I liked it better than the first book.

I SUGGEST YOU READ IT!!

Im half way through this book and i REALLY like it!!!! I MISS THE OLD DOON!

This book is great. It shows how working together and helping each other can be good for everyone. And, it also shows how much a kind action will help. The second book of the Ember series, I defiantly recommend it. Just like the first book, it has some unexpected plot twists and leaves you hanging.

This book really had nothing at all to do with the first book. Not even sure why the author even bothered to write it.

this is the best boook i have ever read! i really like how doon saves torren after all of the bad stuff torren did to the people of ember after all he was the one who started the war he is just lucky doon didnt pummel him to a pulp i kind of wish doon did pummel him to a pulp because torren was not that nice to any of the emberites even tho i havent got to the end of the book yet i love. FYI im only 20 pages away from finishing the book. but my most favorite part of the book is the war that tick started and that ben tried to destroy the people of ember. but i knew that doon would eventually come to his senses and not listen to tick because tick wanted war and doon wanted to work something out and have war at the same time. but this what i think of the book in a nutshell. there is still more i like about the book but it would take to long to write everything i like about the book because i like the whole book i just wrote all of my favorite parts about the book. THE END. of my favorite parts (;

I would definitely recommend this book. Jeanne DuPrau does a very good job of explaining obvious everyday items to clueless people. Also it continues Ember in a very different way.

The second book of ember (the people of sparks) is really good. At the beginning of the book the people of Ember come out of the there dark city and find out about how people live up here. When they find a village all of them are sick and starving. So the leaders say they can stay there for 7 months. Then for 4 months everything is fine but then the leaders say they have to leave. But the Ember people say no so a war is about to happen but one of the leaders pull out a flamethrower and starts a fire so everyone has to help put the fire out. Once they do that the people of Ember are declared citations of Sparks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I liked this book it was more interesting than the city of ember to read but didn't keep my eyes glued to it
