“Tell us your secret,” the girls whisper, one toilet to another.
I am that girl.
I am the space between my thighs, daylight shining through.
I am the bones they want, wired on a porcelain frame.
Lia and Cassie are best friends, wintergirls frozen in matchstick bodies, competitors in a deadly contest to see who can be the skinniest. But what comes after size zero and size double-zero? When Cassie succumbs to the demons within, Lia feels she is being haunted by her friend’s restless spirit.
In her most emotionally wrenching, lyrically written book since the multiple-award-winning Speak, Laurie Halse Anderson explores Lia’s descent into the powerful vortex of anorexia, and her painful path toward recovery.

My friend suggested this author was good. This was the book my library had in stock. The topic was a little serious, an eating disorder, but it's a very real topic in schools everywhere. Although I don't know anyone with an eating disorder (at least not that I know of), this book gave me a real look at what people with eating disorders struggle with on a daily basis.
this book is about a girl named Lia who is anorexic. everyday she weighs herself and sets weight goals lower than 100 pounds!!! her friend Cassie was the same way, but now Cassie is dead and everything is different!!! sooo yah I did like this book! though it did creep me out when she weighed 83 pounds!!!!! ugh she's like 18!!!
Right now it is really sad
This is an amaazing book that tells the real truth behind the often glorifed dieases known as eating disorders. In this book, Lia is dealing with the death of her bestfriend and is haunt, literally, by the fact she might have been able to save her. If that is not enough she is battling anorexia and an over-bearing mother, he only wants to help. This is a deep, heart wrenching novel that will leave to read stunned.
