Platypus Police Squad: The Frog Who Croaked is the first in a series of zany, action-packed middle-grade mysteries featuring platypus police detectives Rick Zengo and Corey O’Malley.

When a call comes in about a crime down at the docks involving a missing schoolteacher and a duffle bag full of illegal fish, Zengo and O’Malley are going to have to learn to set their differences aside if they want to get to the bottom of this. Especially when the clues all point to Frank Pandini Jr., Kallamazoo’s first son and its most powerful, well-respected businessman.

Fans of Adam Rex, Jon Scieszka, and Jarrett J. Krosoczka’s own Lunch Lady graphic novels will flip for Jarrett’s new series of illustrated middle-grade novels.

I started to read this but I really didn't like it. Its just not my kind of book I guess. I don't think I would recommend this book.

It was a fun and easy read. It had me going and it had a smile on my face mod tot the time. I liked how the author engaged the story together making this a super funny read. It had me interested and it was kind of unusual of having a platypus as a police, but that is what made it stand out. It doesnt exactly seem like a police would act like that, but what do I expect, this was so funny. VERY HUMOROUS... trust me. If you like platypuses, you will definitely like this book.

Platypus Police Squad takes place in the fictional city of Kalamazoo where rookie detective Rick Zengo has just been paired up with his new partner veteran Corey O'Malley. Zengo's grandfather was notorious on the force and he often wonders if he can live up to the family name. Their first case involves a school teacher who has gone missing with only a bag of illegal fish left behind. Signs seem to point to Frank Pandini Jr., but without hard evidence the detectives may have to look further

I am a huge fan of the Lunch Lady graphic novels by author Jarrett J. Krosoczka, who wrote this book, Platypus Police Squad: The Ostrich Conspiracy. This book is part story and part drawings, so kids get a nice blend of both and that sometimes helps kids read more. I know I still really like having pictures in my books. First of all, this book is like part mystery and part comedy. Detectives Zengo and O’Malley have a new case: to solve the mystery of what is going on at the scene of a film set and figure out why someone would want to do this. What does movie star Chase Mercy have to do with it, and what is the Mayor hiding? Can the Platypus Police Squad get to the bottom of this? “C’mon kid. We could use a good hot dog after all this.” There are some serous topics talked about in this book about lying, not being honest, and how important it is to take care of the environment because it can seriously affect our soil and water that we drink. I thought it was funny they use boomerangs as their police weapons. This helps keep the violence out of kids’ books. I liked this book and I think it is a book series both boys and girls will really like and read over and over!
