Can you want something—or someone—so badly that you change your destiny? Elyse Schmidt never would have believed it, until it happened to her. When Elyse and her not-so-secret crush, Josh Harris, are the sole survivors of a plane crash, tragedy binds them together. It’s as if their love story is meant to be. Everything is perfect, or as perfect as it can be when you’ve literally fallen out of the sky and landed hard on the side of a mountain—until suddenly it isn’t. And when the pieces of Elyse’s life stop fitting together, what is left? You Are the Everything is a story about the fates we yearn for, the fates we choose, and the fates that are chosen for us.

This book was unlike any I've ever read. For starters, it is written in the present second person, so you are Elyse Schmidt doing something. That take a little while to get used to. As for the plot: Elyse Schmidt is a nervous, shy girl with really only two things that matter to her: her friend Kath and her crush, Josh Harris. Elyse, Josh, and Kath are all in a band, and are traveling back from a competition in Paris when the plane crashes. This makes Josh finally notice Elyse, and they start dating. Elyse, however, has a serious brain injury, and starts losing time. The book portrays the confusion of the injury very well. You Are the Everything gets very intimate, and for this reason I would recommend to age 13 and up.
