“Folks say Old Auntie takes a girl and keeps her fifty years—then lets her go and takes another one.”
Thirteen-year-old Daniel Anderson doesn’t believe Brody Mason’s crazy stories about the ghost witch who lives up on Brewster’s Hill with Bloody Bones, her man-eating razorback hog. He figures Brody’s probably just trying to scare him since he’s the new kid . . . a “stuck-up snot” from Connecticut. But Daniel’s seven-year-old sister Erica has become more and more withdrawn, talking to her lookalike doll. When she disappears into the woods one day, he knows something is terribly wrong. Did the witch strike? Has Erica been “took”?

Hello. I just finished the book and its ok. It isn't scary enough. And the last chapter (Summer- two years later) makes absolutely no sense, no offense. And Im in 5th grade, I understand stuff and I am smart but I still can't comprehend what this means. I guess I'd recommend it to people who will understand. Thank you for taking 1 minute out of your way to read this.

This is the best book ever back in Maryland me and my sister read this book together, we loved it soo much! The theme is, trust can be false and that it can be true in some people, not all. This is because Erica thought Old Auntie was good but Old Auntie was bad. The reason is Erica trusted Old Auntie, but she lied to Erica. Erica didn't trust Daniel, but he told the truth. Also another theme is everything is not as it seems. I choose this theme because Daniel's mom and dad try to believe that everything is fine throughout the whole story. Until Erica gets "took".
