Dozens of children respond to this peculiar ad in the newspaper and are then put through a series of mind-bending tests, which readers take along with them. Only four children-two boys and two girls-succeed. Their challenge: to go on a secret mission that only the most intelligent and inventive children could complete. To accomplish it they will have to go undercover at the Learning Institute for the Very Enlightened, where the only rule is that there are no rules. But what they'll find in the hidden underground tunnels of the school is more than your average school supplies. So, if you're gifted, creative, or happen to know Morse Code, they could probably use your help.

An amazing book for younger readers! Expect adventures, danger, friendships, and more in the Mysterious Benedict Society! This used to be one of my favorite books in 5th grade.

I very enjoyed this book very much! I think it is fit for anyone who likes Roald Dahl (me) and/or Blue Balliet (also me). It is funny, adventurous, sad and heartwarming. 👨🏻‍🤝‍👨🏻👩🏻‍🤝‍🧑🏻🕴🏻🤵🏻

I absolutely love this book. It has a couple of hard words but I still recommend it. Its basically a book about all of these extremely smart children who take a bunch of tests and get accepted into a secret mission. I'm about halfway through. For grades 5-6 but I'm in fourth grade so I guess its fine for fourth graders.

What's the hardest test you ever took? How about the most interesting? One day, Reynie, an orphan at the Stonetown Orphanage, spots an ad in the newspaper. It says: "Are You A Gifted Child Looking For Special Opportunities?" Then, the ad tells Reynie to take a series of puzzling tests. After passing all of the tests, Reynie learns what he's taking the test for a chance to go on a secret and very important mission. Along with 3 friends, Renie will have to complete a dangerous quest. Also, he will have to go undercover to the Learning Institute for the Very Enlightened, a speacial school that is run by an evil genius. Will they succeed at their mission? This book is great if you want a book with lots of adventure and humor.

Reynard Muldoon, nicknamed Reynie, is an above-average child. Way above-average. Did I forget to mention he is an orphan? He doesn't enjoy watching TV, instead, he likes to talk to his caretaker, Miss Perumal. When a queer advertisement to take a test is found in Miss Perumal's newspaper, she encourages Reynie to try it. He passes the test, but then he discovers there's another one! And another one! And finally he gets to meet the esteemed Mr. Benedict, with his newfound friends, George/Sticky Washington, and Kate Wetherall, who both are above-average, like him. He meets the grumpy Constance, and then Mr. Benedict has an announcement. To protect the sanity of the world, the foursome would have to go to the Learning Institute for the Very Enlightened( L.I.V.E) where Mr. Benedict's evil twin, Mr. Ledroptha Curtain, where they are faced with keeping secrets and going into hiding. By the end of the book, Reynie has to answer the question : Are you brave? (In a metaphorical sense) I adored this book and all the twists never will make it boring. Mr. Stewart has made a creation like none other. If you like mysteries and fantasy, I would definitely recommend this book for you. Even if you don't like either of those genres, still read it! It's extraordinary!

Reynie Muldoon is a natural born leader and a very strong mind. George "Sticky" Washington has a photographic memory and has a knack with languages. Kate Wetherthall is very athletic and enthusiastic. Constance Contraire is a gifted poet and very stubborn and grumpy, just like her name states. (note: she migh seem useless but Mr.Benedict chose her for a reason!) Together they are the Mysterious Benedict Society!!!

The best book i have ever read! please read this!

The Mysterious Benedict Society is an absolutely amazing book of danger and friendship. The way Trenton Lee Stuart uses words to paint a glorious picture is phenomenal. I love all the characters and the ending is very wholesome and I can't wait to read the next installment in the series. I could stay up all night reading this book and I will read anything written by this author. If you haven't read the mysterious Benedict society then you must add this to the top of your TBR (To Be Read) I can't recommend this book highly enough. It is one of my top three favorites. Happy Reading! Follow me at Sophia Holcomb1!!

Four kids are enlisted by mysterious Mr. Benedict to go undercover at a strange school in order to prevent the world from being controlled by a sinister man. Reynie Richards is a natural leader and excellent at putting together clues and solving mysteries. Sticky (George) Washington has photographic memory and a seemingly infinite amount of knowledge in his head. Kate Wetherall may not be a genius, but she is always prepared with her supply-stocked red bucket, and her surprising agility and strength. And while it may seem like Constance Contraire's only talents are stubbornness, grumpiness, and the ability to come up with insulting poems, Mr. Benedict is certain that Constance is a vital team member as well. So the four unusual children pack their bags and start their dangerous, and possibly deadly, undercover mission, knowing that they may be the world's last hope. And just like that, the Mysterious Benedict Society is born.

i thought it was Reynie Muldoon?
