Utterly Me, Clarice Bean

Utterly Me, Clarice Bean

By Lauren Child

I've always loved Clarice Bean, and when I reread this favorite elementary school book, I was filled with happy memories of simpler times. I loved reliving the funny and quirky story of Clarice and her friends and her love of Ruby Redfort. I feel like I've told this to everyone I've talked to about this book, but the author of this book is Lauren Child, also well known for her Charlie and Lola picture books. In the Clarice Bean series, Clarice and her best friend Betty are obsessed with a series called Ruby Redfort about an eleven-year-old undercover detective and spy, and that's when I became obsessed with the idea of the series. Then I learned when I was about 10 years old that so many fans of Clarice Bean actually wrote to Lauren Child asking her to write a real Ruby Redfort series. And she did, and those books are also amazing so I encourage you to check those out too!! Clarice is faced with many mysteries that seem to be up to her to solve. This book was a blast from the past for me, and I totally loved reading it again after all these years!

Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

By Mark Twain

This book was awesome. Mark Twain does a good job of taking us back to the time period of anti slavery. In this book Huck was a thirteen year old kid that had no parents. He learned to take care of himself and live in the wild. He did not want to be civilized at all. Twain has strong messages against slavery and he talks a lot about ones freedom. Throughout this book he teaches us that standing up for oneself is very important in life. I would definitely recommend this book to my friends. It was great and Im glad I read it for my second nine weeks social studies project.

Molly Moon's Incredible Book of Hypnotism

Molly Moon's Incredible Book of Hypnotism

By Georgia Byng

I HIGHLY reccomend this book to anyone looking for a funny, adventurous, and suspenseful book! I love it! Molly Moon is an orphan who lives at a horrible orphanage. One day she goes to the library and finds a "no-read on hold" book about hypnotism. It leads her to NYC! Will she use her possible hypnotic powers to help? Or to con?? Amazing book! I've read it over and over again!

Emily of New Moon

Emily of New Moon

By L. M. (Lucy Maud) Montgomery

I am in the process of reading L. M. Montgomery's Emily of New Moon. Emily's sweet father just died, leaving her to the mercy of her mother's family, the Murrays. Emily, shocked and heartbroken, wants nothing but to be with her father again. But instead she is taken into Aunt Laura (the sweet one) and Aunt Elizabeth's (The stern, no-nonsense, plain, sensible one) home on New Moon. Emily slowly warms up to her new environment, and discovers the pain and joy in having friends. I love this book because Montgomery is such a beautiful writer, the very one who wrote Anne of Green Gables. Her writing flows like a river! I hope you liked this book as much as I do.

The Wishing Stone: #1 Dangerous Dinosaur

The Wishing Stone: #1 Dangerous Dinosaur

By Lorana Hoopes

This book is about a little boy named Spencer who doesn’t like to read. He’s given a magic stone that sends him into whatever story he’s reading. He reads a story with a dinosaur, and is sent into that story. During his time there, he helps the characters in the story. This book is pretty good. The characters have a lot of personality, but I didn’t feel satisfied at the end. I would recommend this book though.
