Squirm
By Carl Hiaasen
“This Summer, Billy dickens will fly across the country, hike a mountain, float a river, dodge a grizzly bear, shoot down a spy drone, save a neighbour’s cat, save an endangered panther, and then try to save his own father.” As soon as I saw these words I knew this was the book for me. And I was right! I love Carl Hiaasen’s books, he is such a creative writer and I loved Billy, his sister Belinda, and his mom who was this weird obsession was eagles, and his dad who has this super dangerous catching poachers job and Little Thunder-sky, “Lil” for short, and lastly, my favourite, Summer. She’s Lil’s daughter and also Billy’s father’s daughter. You should definetely read this book!
Stormbreaker (Alex Rider)
By Anthony Horowitz
Stormbreaker is a scientific and adventure novel by Anthony Horowitz and is the most thrilling book I've read this semester. The character, Alex Rider, is a normal teen who lives with his uncle. But after his uncle's death, he founds out that his uncle is a secret agent and soon carries on his mission. Along the way, he faces different challenges and has to figure out how to save the world before the Stormbreaker computers "invade" Earth. I really like Alex because he is really brave, strong, intelligent, and is always up for a new challenge. One of my favorite scenes is when he is almost killed by Baron, but one of the workers help him escape. I was super nervous when I was reading that chapter and it was really a cliff-hanger that I didn't expect. This book is perfect for teens that like sci-fi but more realistic than fantasies, it's an amazing book!

The Carnivorous Carnival (A Series of Unfortunate Events # 9)
By Lemony Snicket
Following the events of The Hostile Hospital, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire arrive at Caligari Carnival in the trunk of Count Olaf and his theatre troupe's car, unknown to them. Olaf and his associates speak of seeking Madame Lulu, a mysterious fortune-teller and owner of Caligari Carnival, for answers of the whereabouts of the Snicket files, which apparently contains crucial information on V.F.D. I made a connection for text to text because it reminds me of books that I've read that leave wondering until you read more. I give this book five stars because of how it is written and how every time you read it you find out something new about the characters and their journey. To find out if the Baudelaires escape read the Carnivorous Carnival.

Dog Gone! (Good Crooks)
By Mary Amato
The book I am reading in silent sustained reading is a book called Good crooks. My favorite part about this book are the characters and the setting. The descriptions of the setting in the book paint very vivid pictures in my head. The story follows two twins named Billy and Jillian who’s parents are crooks who like to steal things instead of buying things. When Jillian finds a poster telling her to buy a dog or buy dog medicine, the craziness starts when Jillian starts a stand to raise money by selling cupcakes. When their parents find the poster, they say to steal dogs. But when they steal the pretty poodle named Poochie, they do everything to get the dog back to her owner. I would overall rate this book 4.5 stars. This book was good for its setting and the characters.
