Kids Books - Classics
Homer Price
By Robert McCloskey
It was okay. It has four stories, one about him and his skunk capture thieves. the second one is about a doughnut machine on a rampage. The third one is about a string race. And the fourth one about a stranger and a musical mousetrap. Its kind of a fun story.
The Illiad (Essential Classics)

The Illiad is one of the best books and one that everyone should read at least once. The way homer wrote it is like music to your ears. When Pratocluas dies you feel the emotions Achillies goes through.

Very Hungry Caterpillar Baby Cards for Milestone Moments
By Eric Carle
Caitlin
I think young kids should read the book The hungry, hungry caterpillar by the author Eric Carl. I think you should read The hungry, hungry caterpillar because Eric Carl makes great illustrations! Eric Carl also has short words and very few long words for beginning readers! You can also teach kids their numbers, but in FUN! This book, The hungry, hungry caterpillar is the life cycle of a caterpillar who eats a lot. I think the hungry, hungry caterpillar is going to be a great book for young kids!
The Yearling
By Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, N. C. Wyeth
I think I understand what you (@thistle912) mean about the grammar; it's not the way my friends and I talk and it's difficult for me to read. "Yes" people really did talk that way & recently. As a "kid" of the 1970s, I remember "Andy Griffith" spoke similarly to that on TV. Where I live in central CA, there's been a trend in education to recognize that "standard" English is important, but it's not the only legitimate dialect. I tried to read the Yearling a few times and just recently decided to "read" the audio book to get more used to the accent and to think about whether or not the story is appropriate for my young nephew. My nephew's family and I don't eat meat, but the idea of "kill or go hungry" is an important part of our history.
Kidnapped
By Robert Louis Stevenson
Ash
I am reading this as we speak it is a wonderful book and was very well written I had just purchased at the library this morning but I will say because Stevenson is from the united kingdom it was a bit hard to understand with hints of an Irish vocabulary
Sounder
By William H. Armstrong
My favorite part happens when Sounder went away to heal, because, this story is emotional for readers. Especially when the father was taken away to do free cropping hard labor fieldwork. This was not fair because the father only took the ham, after the man he worked refused to pay him fairly after his hard labor. Stealing is never ok but in this situation the family was hungry, and his boss was unfair by holding his earned pay. As the sheriff's took the father away one of them used a rifle to shoot after Sounder, because he barked after them. I believe Sounder had a dog sense that something was not right so he chased after them. After Sounder was shot at, he disappeared for a long while. I think that animals do things like this because they know exactly where to go heal when they get injured. For this reason animals are smart. To be totally honest this book was a eye opening smack in the face reality check for me. Trust me, if you read this story you will realize that life now, is not so hard because nowadays we don’t have to face the hard times of yesteryear. For this reason, others should read it. I’d give this book FIVE Stars, because the story was a tear dropping emotional shock.
The First Four Years
By Laura Ingalls Wilder
The First Four Years is about Laura and Almanzo's first four years of being married. Everything seems perfect just Laura and Almanzo, but every year brings catastrophic events: storms, sickness, fire, and unpaid debts. There is still love especially for the newest member of the Wilder family baby Rose. It is both a sad book and a happy one because the Laura series is coming to a close but the Rose series is just beginning.
