Princess and Curdie

Princess and Curdie

By George MacDonald

The Princess and Curdie is supposed to be a sequel to The Princess and the Goblin, but I read it first anyways. It was pretty easy to understand. Curdie is a boy and is given a gift by the princess's great-great grandmother. He is able to hold anyone's hand, and he can feel what the true person is. For example, a person who cheats on another would have a hand of a snake (skin?). Anyways, he is sent on a quest to help the real princess's father, the king. Along the way, he is aided by Lina, who is a malformed dog. Together, they must save the kingdom. It was a good book, just written in a really strange way. Like hundreds of years ago. I really didn't like the ending. Maybe you'll like it more than me!

Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry and Related Readings

I think that this book is a very good book. I would recommend this book to someone that wants to learn about raceism . This book is kind of like a history book about when raceism was so so so popular. The problem is how white folk are trying to get most of the black people killed. It is kind of teaching you in part of the book when money was scarce, it is trying to teach you not to waste your money that you might need it but you won't have any. I think that this book is great and you should read it it you if you want to know about raceism.

Sarah, Plain and Tall

Sarah, Plain and Tall

By Patricia MacLachlan

Have you lost a loved one? Because Anna has. Anna is nice, kind and loving. But I don't think she was to fund of her brother Caleb until the book Caleb's Story. Also the setting is inside the house and outside of the house. Also in chapter 1 they started to write to Sarah. Another is in chapter 3 Anna and Caleb's dad left to get a girl named Sarah. This book reminds me of my dad he didn't die. But I have not seen him in a very long time. I like the book Sarah, Plan and Tall because it kinda gives me the perspective of people that have lost a loved one. I recommend this book to 4th and 5th graders because it might be to hard for 1st, second and third graders.

Strawberry Girl

Strawberry Girl

By Lois Lenski

This book is about a girl who just moved into a country, and she's got the meanest neighbors ever. She is trying to grow strawberries. Sounds easy for a farmer like her, right? Wrong. Her strange neighbors have some real mean kids, and the neighbors' kids are very mean to their animals. Their youngest son is quite thin. They've got two daughters. Their older sons tortured a teacher. And their family seems to be sabotaging the strawberries. In fact, they have killed their dear old horse! The youngest son has even tried to feed a wild snake a live rabbit! That's all I'm saying about this book. A great story for those who are having troubles in life.

Martin the Warrior is a great book in Redwall and I loved it. It's a prequel to the first book, basically.

Sleeping Beauty

Sleeping Beauty

By Charles Perrault, Brothers Grimm

I want to read this book because it seems like a good book what if it's not a scary book!?

The Story of Tracy Beaker

The Story of Tracy Beaker

By Jacqueline Wilson

This was a very fun book by Jacqueline Wilson. Even though Tracy is very funny though, you can see that she protects herself with her humor, and often lies about her "glamorous" mom coming back for her one day. She says all sorts of things about her mom, like how she travels abroad lots and that's why she never has time for Tracy. You can tell that Tracy is mean to many of the other kids living in her foster home because she's jealous and upset that she can't have what they have, like outings with their parents. I think this book is very good to help kids practice seeing things from someone else's point of view more!

Farmer Boy (Little House)

Farmer Boy (Little House)

By Laura Ingalls Wilder

I decided to read this book 'cos it is about a young boy named Almanzo and his 2 older sisters, 1 older brother, and his parents. His father is one of the most important people in Malone, a nearby city to where they live. I don't exactly remember where it comes out like this, but on one of the pages, Almanzo thinks its unfair that he has to be the youngest in his family, & he loves horses. He thinks that they are the most beautiful creatures he had ever seen. I like this book a lot, but sometimes this book makes me feel nervous about what is going to happen next. I recommend this book to EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
