Keeper of the Lost Cities is overall an okay book. If you're looking for a fun reading adventure, this is an excellent choice. It has some humor, cool little details, and will most likely keep you entertained. If you're a normal hater of fantasy, don't worry, that won't be a problem.
However if you're planning to delve deeper into literature, this is NOT your book. There's many obvious problems for that:
First of all, it's not very creative. The plot itself, for the first book at least, is very similiar to the Harry Potter series. The setting and many details were based off of other books, including The Lord of The Rings.
Second, the character's don't have much personality. Sophie Foster is basically just nice and brave. She barely thinks at all. If you observe her thoughts more closely, you'll see that her reactions are very plain and not very realistic.
Third, the plot is very random. It's fine in the beginning, but further and further in, things no longer make sense. Unlike some other series, there will be no " oh, so that's why". You'll simply have to go with the flow.

the beginning of this book had me hooked for years!! its fun and exciting, and the series gets better and better, although it does start to get very very long. i love fitz and dex and all of her new friends, i wish i could be an elf!
