"The Eighth Story. Nineteen Years Later.

Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, a new play by Jack Thorne, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the eighth story in the Harry Potter series and the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage. The play will receive its world premiere in London’s West End on July 30, 2016.

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places."

i want to read this book!!!!!

"Be honest to those you love, show your pain. To suffer is as human as to breathe.” Nineteen years after the defeat of the Dark Lord, the Wizarding World still isn't perfect. But Harry Potter's middle child, Albus Severus, has bigger problems - especially after the Sorting Hat places him in the poster House for evil: Slytherin. Regarded as a disappointment by his peers and shunned unintentionally by his shell-shocked family, Albus can only find solace in his only friend, Scorpius Malfoy.. who is rumored to be the son of Voldemort, his father's greatest enemy. But Albus' frustration with his father finally boils over when he overhears Amos Diggory, now an old man, begging for him to use a Time-Turner to bring his son, Cedric, back to life - and Harry refuses. With a reluctant Scorpius and Amos' "niece", Delphi, with him every step of the way, Albus embarks on a perilous quest to reverse time and save Cedric from his undeserved death in the Triwizard Tournament.. but at what cost? Maybe "it's time that time-turning became a thing of the past." No lie - if J. K. Rowling was at the helm of this script, it would have been absolutely spectacular.. but she wasn't. Instead, she was pushed to the sidelines, with the writers of this script stringing unrelated concepts together, trying to create something vaguely resembling the wonderful "Harry Potter" series - and instead, failing miserably. It felt like a fanfiction, and while the writers were obviously trying to please dedicated fans, they ended up attracting more haters than new Potterheads. The formerly beloved characters are completely out-of-whack - they almost have no resemblance to the characters in the series, at all.. especially Harry Potter himself, now an uncaring father who has no patience for anyone even SLIGHTLY different from him, even his own son. It breaks my heart, as a Potterhead, to see bratty Harry (used affectionately, I swear!) turn into a cold, uncaring father, who, after all he's been through, can't see past Albus' differences. IT'S NOT HIM. The plot is weak, with so many plotholes I can't even cover them all - and besides, the whole premise of the script is questionable. Both the Time-Turner and the Cedric's death plotline should have been closed by the end of the seventh book, it's pretty futile to try to bring it back again, instead of opening a new, much more interesting plot. One of the only points in the script I actually appreciated was Albus and Scorpius' friendship - incredibly sweet and I'm glad that it was a powerful element in the story - and.. well, as a Potterhead, even if they're totally exaggerated and not true to themselves, I have to admit, I'm glad to see the gang back together again. Overall, 'The Cursed Child' didn't feel like a classic Rowling - and it wasn't! - and it doesn't even deserve to be marketed as the grand new addition to the Harry Potter fandom.

Oh my goodness I totally agree.

Hi @smithers2000! Sorry I didn't see any of your comments before - I totally agree with everything you say too! Wow, I'm glad people aren't upset with us - I am a Potterhead through and through and even though this book was disappointing, I hope people understand that we're still Potterheads and we'll always be, right?

And I also hope that fantastic beasts and where to find them is good. We've still got something to hold on to! Also, there is a book I think you would like. It's called the green ember.

Oh and by the way, I hope you don't think I'm stalking you, It's just when someone says something I agree with about a book I Love, then I just have to let them know. ;-)

No, I feel the same way! Your reviews/comments are always on point too :)

Thanks. Except for when I think Vietnamse is Korean. Ha ha!;-)

Yes! Again, I totally agree. Even though we um, aren't very fond of this book, to say the least, we are potterheads and no one can tell us different. I love all your reviews, (especially this one) and I agree with all of them!

Thank you so very much - your reviews/comments are always spectacular as well! Are you a Potterhead too?

omg yes! If you don't already know I would recommend you the Pottermore website; its really entertaining :)

GAH - Pottermore - the nostalgia - yes, I love Pottermore! I used to like it much more when it was "interactive", and you could do potions and spells and the little scenes from the books that you could collect things from (my favorite part, honestly - graphics were stunning) - and even when J. K. Rowling turned it kind of into a "blog" format, I still remained in love - the Prof. McGonagall and Remus Lupin articles were absolutely fantastic - but after that I kinda sorta didn't care because I WANTED MY COLLECTIBLES BACK SO BADLY.. but I came back for Ilvermorny. LOVE THE HOUSES - they don't fit people into stereotypes (like Slytherin is evil, I hate that personally).. shows the peculiar and unique parts of witches/wizards that help them do their part in the vast wizarding world.. what's your Ilvermorny/Hogwarts house? I'm a hybrid in both - Ravenpuff (Ravenclaw/Hufflepuff) and Horned Pukbird (Horned Serpent, Pukwudgie and Thunderbird).. Sorry for ranting, I'm always so excited to meet a fellow Potterhead!!

haha nice :) I'm a hybrid of ravenclaw/slytherin lol for Hogwarts and Thunderbird at IIvermorny

Thunderbird was my first result - until I HAD to take the test again using a different email lol and I did get Slytherin two times but I feel like I'm a Ravenpuff at heart :D

This book is really nice. I love the Harry Potter series and you can say i'm a Potterhead. This book is really amazing an absolutly a must-read and must-have for Potterheads. I know it's not a book-book but the script from the play, but i like that actually. The story is about friendship and i was in tears while reading the book. Some pieces are just so heartbreaking. It's an amazing book and as you see Harry Potter is not over yet, it will always be there when we need it. Untill the very end ☺⚡
