Boys don’t keep diaries—or do they?

The launch of an exciting and innovatively illustrated new series narrated by an unforgettable kid every family can relate to

It’s a new school year, and Greg Heffley finds himself thrust into middle school, where undersized weaklings share the hallways with kids who are taller, meaner, and already shaving. The hazards of growing up before you’re ready are uniquely revealed through words and drawings as Greg records them in his diary.

In book one of this debut series, Greg is happy to have Rowley, his sidekick, along for the ride. But when Rowley’s star starts to rise, Greg tries to use his best friend’s newfound popularity to his own advantage, kicking off a chain of events that will test their friendship in hilarious fashion.

Author/illustrator Jeff Kinney recalls the growing pains of school life and introduces a new kind of hero who epitomizes the challenges of being a kid. As Greg says in his diary, “Just don’t expect me to be all ‘Dear Diary’ this and ‘Dear Diary’ that.” Luckily for us, what Greg Heffley says he won’t do and what he actually does are two very different things.

Since its launch in May 2004 on Funbrain.com, the Web version of Diary of a Wimpy Kid has been viewed by 20 million unique online readers. This year, it is averaging 70,000 readers a day.

Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So funny and perfectly imitates a middle school boy in a very funny way

The diary of a wimpy kid by Jeff Kinney is a hilarious series, the book is simple yet the illustrations are so cute and cool. You should read this book!

I read this book because I love the diary the diary of a wimpy kid books. If you love the diary of a wimpy kid books you will love this book.

While the Diary of a Wimpy books are easy reads -- they are also super HILARIOUS! I have read these books for years and never gotten tired of them! I started reading these in 2nd grade and recommend them for anyone in that grade or above! After you start reading you can't stop reading (and laughing)!

This book is amazing. In this book, a HUGE cat is looking for prey. It needs food for the winter or it will die. It goes after bird and his best friend squirrel. They have to run away from the HUGE cat or they will die. They go from scary moments to enjoying moment. But overall, I would love for you to read this book. This book also inspired me to read about scary moments. Really because I hate scary things. The theme is never be a bully because it was chasing them for a wile. If you love scary moments, you should read this book.

When I told my friend I was reading 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid', she said only one thing "What are you... 12"? If enjoying reading this book makes me 12, so be it. I liked this book. Its funny, a very quick read, unique and very cute. Worth a read for anyone who has a child living inside them. I seldom give five-star ratings, but I feel the need to balance some of the negative reviews. First of all, this book is intended for slightly older readers--say, 9 and up. Second, anyone looking for profound wisdom will be disappointed. It's just a funny book, a very funny book. I'm not sure I'd go as far as to call is a graphic novel, either. The doodly illustrations enhance the "story" (such as it is), but they don't tell it. This book doesn't tackle any issues, nor does it try to make the reader a better person; it's just fun. My first Wimpy Kid and is surely not the last. Who knew this Wimpy Kid would be playing with my head for such a long time. I believe my favorite scene is the play of the Wizard of Oz. That was so funny. I'm glad I gave this beloved novel a read. It was worth it.

I have read the series multiple times, and my mom was always mad about it. I don';t know why, but Jeff Kinney had m hooked on from the first page. That is not something that happens a lot with me. I have to read a few pages and then I decide whether I want to read the book or not. So this is probably one of the many books that would be my go-to if I didn't have any other books to read. If you don't know what this book is about, it is about a kid that is in middle school. He has weird people in his h=neighborhood and school. He wants to to do grown-up stuff and all the things his parents do. But when he tries, he finds out how hard it is. It shows his emotions about school, at his home, and a bunch of other stuff many kids have to deal with. I don't know how, but Jeff Kinney mixed comedy with actual life o well, you would actually think he was writing this books when he was a child. Overall, I give this book 5/5 stars. Well done, Jeff!
