Part of Penguin's beautiful hardback Clothbound Classics series, designed by the award-winning Coralie Bickford-Smith, these delectable and collectible editions are bound in high-quality colourful, tactile cloth with foil stamped into the design. Marianne Dashwood wears her heart on her sleeve, and when she falls in love with the dashing but unsuitable John Willoughby she ignores her sister Elinor's warning that her impulsive behaviour leaves her open to gossip and innuendo. Meanwhile Elinor, always sensitive to social convention, is struggling to conceal her own romantic disappointment, even from those closest to her. Through their parallel experience of love - and its threatened loss - the sisters learn that sense must mix with sensibility if they are to find personal happiness in a society where status and money govern the rules of love.

I finished this book with astonishment. First, it is Jane Austin's high writing skills. She described the characters so well that I can completely understand their thoughts! Next, it again proves that the course of love does not at all runs smoothly. It turns out that in some specific occasions, hopes of marriage disappear, guilty secrets are revealed, and hearts are broken. Wait till you read it by yourself to discover~ Last, for those who finish it, I want to offer a question, "If you ever have strong feeling, is it better to express it to the world passionately, or will you choose to hide it down under a calm face?" This book is strongly recommended, no matter you like romantic plots or not, simply give it a try!

Sense and Sensibility is the story of the Dashwood sisters, particularly focused on Elinor and Marianne and their various romances. Elinor was my favorite character, because I am able to relate most to her. One of my favorite parts of the book is the relationship between the two sisters, and the differences and stark contrast between them. Yet, they still have that connection and confide in each other. I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars, and I would recommend this book to romance booklovers and Jane Austen fans. I do not think it is a book that is meant for, or interest young readers.

This is SUCH A GREAT BOOK!! This is a classic, so it does have weird words like thy and stuff like flieth. This is a romance, and so with any romance you have problems. Three sisters, one too young to be looking for her true love, but 2 old enough to be looking. Marianne, finding a man named Willoughby, after spraining her ankle, falling in a rainstorm. Willoughby carrying her to her house. They fall in love. Elinor gossips about them and it is not a happy house hold. read the book to find out the end!!
