I Love this movie so much!!! I love the way how Merida is so brave and willing to try new things. Her life is so exciting, being a princess, but her talent being an archer. This movie is so interesting and it isn't so girly, I like the way that there is some up and down moments, some drama and a little bit of comedy too! Her family is so different and unique, so is Merida. She is not like any normal princess, she is Extraordinary!!!

"Dishonor on your whole family! Dishonor on you! Dishonor on your cow - Dishonor on your -" Unfortunately, Mulan has a lot more than dishonor to deal with in this classic Disney movie. "The Huns are invading!" Led by Shan Yu, China's greatest enemies, the Huns, are invading China, having finally overcome the Great Wall, which has kept China safe. The general requires one man from each family to join the Chinese army. Meanwhile, Mulan has worries of her own, having to face "the Matchmaker," who decides whether you are fit for marriage (because in that dynasty, men went to war, and women married men and bore sons). Unfortunately, Mulan fails drastically and comically and sings the song, "Reflection," wondering how she will find her true self in this vast world. When Mulan hears that her elderly and injured father, Fa Zhou, has to go into war, she makes a split decision - to disguise herself as a man and go into the army. Shortly after Mulan leaves, Mulan's family learns of her decision and becomes horrified - if Mulan is discovered as a woman, the punishment is death. Mulan's grandmother prays to her ancestors that Mulan will be safe. When a demoted guardian, a little red dragon Mushu, hears of a chance to "redeem" himself by helping Mulan, he wants to go for it - unfortunately, the ancestors pick "The Great Stone Dragon." "The Great Stone Dragon" fails to wake, and Mushu sends himself on this mission. After their comical and brief meeting, Mushu misguides Mulan on how to behave like a man. Apparently, to greet a man and to show that you are friendly, you should punch the man. Does that sound right to you, boys? It wasn't, and soon Yao and Ling (Mulan's "victims") are chasing after her, outraged, which creates a mess. The "real" general needs to set out on a more important mission, so he makes his son, Li Shang, in charge. (Along with the "chief advisor" of the emperor, who, frankly, I despise more than Shan Yu :P) Anyway, in about three minutes (more like three months) with the song, "Be a Man," playing in the background, they become skilled warriors. Mushu, who for his own "selfish" causes really wants Mulan to succeed, fakes a letter from the General and sends it to Li Shang. The letter says to follow them to the mountains... They arrive at a burnt-out town, and everyone realizes that the general and his soldiers have been killed by the Huns in a massacre. As they are heading back, they are ambushed by the Huns (it was all Mushu's fault! He fired off a cannon by accident!) and Mulan cleverly fires a cannon to cause an avalanche. However, Shan Yu and a few of the "major" Huns survive, and Shan Yu slashed Mulan in the chest. Later, when the wound is bandaged, it is revealed Mulan is a woman. Shang lets her go and does not kill her because she saved his life in the avalanche, but abandons her on the mountain. Mulan and Mushu overhears the plans of the Huns - they are planning to kill the Emperor! They immediately set out to the Imperial City and try to alert the townspeople, the soldiers, and most importantly, Shang! But no one listens to them, and soon the Huns (hidden carefully in a "dragon" for a celebration) burst out and kidnap the emperor, bringing him inside the palace to assassinate. Mulan and the soldiers + Shang follow Mulan's plan and sneak into the castle, disguised as harmless women (okay, Mulan is a woman, but still) and later distract the Huns by cracking fruit over them or taking their weapons. Meanwhile, Shang prevents Shan Yu from assassinating the emperor and now Shan Yu is enraged! He is distracted by Mulan, and they engage in combat with each other.. on the roof! Mulan has no weapons.. except a fan? Meanwhile, Shan Yu is heading toward her with a sharp sword.. What will Mulan do next? Will Mulan come out of this alive? Who will come to her rescue? This movie absolutely turned around Disney and put it on the right track. Nearly every prior Disney heroine had a quest - for love. I love that Mulan wants glory, cares for her family, and is an awesome fighter, unlike some of the other princesses, who let their mighty princes do all the work. Mulan (the movie) is hilarious - especially Mushu and Crickee (her lucky cricket and also Mushu's "pet"). The sound-track, especially "Reflection," and "Be a Man," is really catchy and emotional. This whole movie is heartwarming and in some parts, it made me want to cry.. (SPOILERS! THIS WHOLE REVIEW HAD SO MANY SPOILERS BUT THIS IS THE GREATEST SPOILER.) "The greatest honor of all is having you as a daughter.." I'm tearing up right now as I type it - the animation is top-notch, absolutely beautiful and pristine. Mulan has many talents - sword-fighting, strength, wit, balance, kindness, and many more. This movie has many talents too - it will keep you on your toes, keep a smile on your face, and make your whole family want to watch it over and over again. Enjoy!
