In the 1930’s, the dawn of the Great Depression, two kids, Joey and Mary Alice, visited grandma every summer. This isn’t no normal knitting grandma. This is Mrs. Dowdel. If you enter her house, she might just shoot a round of bullets to get you out. Grandma and the kids do all kinds of crazy things. They stole a boat, shot a round of bullets to scare people away and put a shotgun right to someone's face. Every year, Grandma does something and has weirder reasoning. These summers are certainly unforgettable. One thing is for sure though. Do not cross Grandma. We read Long Way From Chicago this year if you didn’t know. In my opinion, this was a great book. I think this because the book was interesting. I personally like historical fiction like this book. My favorite part in the book was when Uncle Grady fought Mrs. Weidenbach dad. I liked this part because it is unrealistic and funny. Also, Uncle Grady used his Mexican war sword. I would rate this book 4 out of 5. I would rate it 5 stars but it was a little short. In conclusion, I’d recommend this book to anyone. It’s a great book. A quote from the book is,”I don’t think Grandma is a good influence.” said Joey. Goodreads agrees with me because it was rated 4 stars on Goodreads. That is my book review on the great book, Long Way From Chicago.
