Brilliant movie all round; thought provoking yet funny. Having read the book and thoroughly enjoyed it, my class decided we should watch the movie. It did not fail delight us one and all. I love that it taught us a little about the environment (who knew Burrowing Owls were real??!), caring for the environment, and treating everyone fairly regardless of how they treat us (Roy has so much gumption when dealing with Dana!) The movie was well cast and followed the book really closely. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and would recommend it people of all ages.

I have watched this movie many times and enjoy it every time :) I always watch with my class after reading the book as a literature study. Interestingly, there are mixed reactions to the movies; some children prefer the book while others prefer the movie. The movie is a little darker than the book, with some key changes to characters and the introduction of the medallion being magic. I love both the book and the movie, and would recommend it to 9 - 13 year olds who enjoy suspense-filled and exciting stories involving animals.
