Friday Barnes wasn't anticipated. The fifth child in the family, she taught herself most of what she knew about the world, and staying invisible to the average citizen-her idea of a comfortable life. But her life changes forever after she solves a bank robbery, earning herself $50,000, and going off to a posh boarding school. While there, she meets a strew of characters, ranging from popular mean kids, to sweet roommates, and solves their mysteries for them. This was the best combination of Matilda and Nancy Drew that I've read! I loved how all the mysteries concluded to an amazing finale, and the cliffhanger was really gripping! I'll definitely read the next book in the series, and I couldn't pick a better series to become the new Nancy Drew!

pipermc11's book review was featured in The Boy Who Knew Everything.
This is such a fantastic book, with well developed characters, and a great villain! Something I would highly recommend, however, is to read the first book in the series, "The Girl Who Could Fly", which is just as good as this book. It really helped me to understand what was going on with the characters and how they acted in certain situations. I loved how the book, while in the elementary and middle school aged reading level, was able to deal with very adult situations, such as abandonment, and how to deal with depression as well. Conrad is an deceptive but lovable protagonist, along with his best friend, Piper, and their friends, all with powers as bountiful as their own. When Conrad's powerful father threatens the friends' jobs of helping people in danger, will the group be strong enough to defy them? Definitely a five out of five, and one of the best books for children's literature!

That's so great that he's able to help so many animals, and help clean up so much of the trash that's in the ocean!

pipermc11's book review was featured in The Wild Ones.
Kit's just your average raccoon, living with his parents and family-or so he thought. When his parents are killed by Flealess bloodhounds, Kit vows to protect the Footprint of Azban. When he finds out a secret about the Footprint, Kit finds himself in a position where only he can uncover why Ankle Snap Alley belongs to the Wild Ones. I thought this book was absolutely adorable, while being mature enough for an older audience. Most of the animal genre that I've read have been about a dog that finds new life with an awesome owner, and while those books are fantastic, it's nice to be refreshed with The Wild Ones.

pipermc11's book review was featured in Warren the 13th and The All-Seeing Eye: A Novel.
This book was wonderfully written and the art style was absolutely stunning. Warren, a twelve year old who has descended from multiple Warrens (he's the 13th,) lives in a hotel with his Uncle Rupert after his father passed away. His uncle has a new, seemingly kind wife, Aunt Annaconda. But she's more than just a first glance. Warren's family has hidden the All-Seeing Eye, and Aunt Annaconda is after it. While the perfect wife around Warren's uncle, she's horrible and cruel to Warren. Warren eventually can't put up with her anymore, and escapes to find the treasure by himself. This book is full of action, and cliffhangers at each chapter. It was a refreshing read from your standard "Stepmother is evil but nice around the father" story line. Highly recommended!
