J.K Rowling is a well known author for her all of her amazing books, and if you love her other novels, then you will truly love this book, maybe even more then the other ones!! This book is truly amazing and so creative, it was definitely a treat to read this, as J.K Rowling takes the reader into an amazing, happy land named Cornucopia, where the have the finest cheese, and tastiest pastries, nothing could possibly go wrong. Everything seems perfect about this world, and everyones lives are as good as can be. But one day someone raises concerns about the ikabog, now whats that you might ask, the ikabog is a feared “monster” that kills people and animals. But the question is does it really exist or is it a fragment of their imagination. Suddenly chaos arrive throughout this happy land when a certain incident happens, this drives everyone into poverty, and everyone now has hopes that their lives will go back to normal. Cornucopia’s foundation is now based off of lies, which keep piling up till no one can take it anymore. Read this book to find out what happens and if they ever overcome these rough times. Overall I would say this book is suitable for all age levels, and is a really engaging book with tons of hidden messages. I picked the book up and did not want to put it back down till I had read the entire thing. J.K Rowling has done it again with possibly one of her best books yet, and I would highly encourage everyone to read this book!!!

I was really pleasantly surprised when reading this book! While I do like the Harry Potter books, it isn't really my favorite books. After reading The Ickabog, I got to see J.K. Rowling in a whole new light! I was surprised she was able to write this book so well, and I honestly liked it better then I did the Harry Potter Books. This book takes place in the land of Cornucopia, where everyone is happy, and live is perfect for everyone. After all, Cornucopia has the finest cheese, the tastiest pastries, and the best parties. After hearing about the legend of the Ickabog and wanting to prove how un-selfish he is, the king decides to go to hunt it down. But will he actually be able to hunt it down? And why is it making such a sudden appearance? Soon everyone is confused... Cornucopia is supposed to be a land where dreams take place; not nightmares! I highly recommend this book to both J.K. Rowling fans and people just looking for an awesome adventure to read! 5/5! This story is probally good for all ages, and would make a very fun book club book too! :)

I was lucky enough to get an advanced reader's copy, and I was so glad I did!! J. K. Rowling's new book is amazing! It takes you on an adventure in the kingdom of Cornucopia, where each city makes a different type of food, like wines, cheeses, pastries, and more. It is a happy kingdom, and the Ickabog is just a tale parents tell children to make sure they stay in the garden. When the Ickabog takes two lives, though, the kingdom forms a Ickabog Defense Brigade. With power hungry lords stealing money and imprisoning people left and right, children that are forced to fend for themselves, and many twists and turns, this book is great. 5/5, I would definitely recommend this book!

The Ickabog tells the story of a kingdom called Cornucopia. This kingdom is known for its famous, wonderful (sometimes even joyful tear-inducing) food, beverages, and goods. Cornucopia is ruled by King Fred the Fearless. Sadly, King Fred isn’t so fearless after all. His two best friends, Lord Spittleworth and Lord Flapoon, keep up a facade of King Fred being a selfless and courageous king to the people of Cornucopia. Most of the people listen to this - even King Fred goes along with it. He actually starts believing these lies about himself so much that he is almost convinced that he IS the fearless king that his title suggests. Besides the fact that Cornucopia has a falsely courageous king that is built up of lies, the kingdom couldn’t be more perfect on the outside. However, even in this picturesque kingdom, there is a monster that is rumored to lurk in the Marshlands. The name of this monster is called the Ickabog. It’s rumored to eat sheep and even people! Some people say it’s just a myth or a children’s story... but is it? When the idea of the Ickabog being real wreaks havoc on the once peaceful kingdom of Cornucopia, good friends Bert Beamish and Daisy Dovetail decide to take matters into their own hands and figure out the truth of the Ickabog once and for all. Is the Ickabog just a silly myth or is there a real monster and danger lurks ahead? I really enjoyed this book! I loved the plot of the story and some of the complicated and corrupt characters. The Ickabog was not at all like Harry Potter (which I was sort of expecting) but a fantastic read nonetheless! I definitely recommend it!

A tale of delectable food, incredible friendship, and golden hearts from one of the world's most beloved storytellers! In truth, I didn't expect to like The Ickabog at all: of course, I was ecstatic when DOGO Books sent the novel to me, but I didn't think it could ever be up to par with the Harry Potter series, of which I had fallen in love with. And when I started reading, my thoughts didn't change much at first—a stereotypical glorious kingdom, materialistic king, et cetera, et cetera—until the plot thickened and I could not stop reading. Everything I considered flighty and unimportant in the beginning served as a runway for all the problems that began snowballing, and once again, J. K. Rowling's plot twists, multiple storylines, character development, and emotional scenes absolutely blew me away. I actually starting tearing up a bit halfway through, so relieved was I to see that familiar syntax and offhand humor of hers, and of course, I couldn't withhold the waterworks when the emotional scenes in the book rolled around. The Ickabog concerns itself with the struggle of orphanhood, the influence of manipulation, and how much power and fear one can really wield. The kingdom of Cornucopia fascinates me and I stayed up until one in the morning to finish reading this wonderful new world J. K. Rowling had created. One thing's for sure, this stunning author is not a one-trick pony, and Oliver Twist (Charles Dickens) meets The Darkdeep (Ally Condie, Brendon Reichs) in this new children's book, perfect for all ages.
