"A world where everyone's ugly. And then they're not" Tally is about to turn sixteen, and she can't wait. Once she's sixteen, the operation will turn her world and herself beauteous. The operation will turn her from a depressing ugly to a stunningly attractive pretty. She will soon fit in a perfect body, live in a perfect world, and get to meet, her best friend/crush, the already pretty Peris who is 3 months older than her. During the three months of waiting, Tally met her new friend, Shay who isn't sure to become a pretty. When Shay runs away, she left hints and notes for Tally. Following these clues, Tally soon learn about a whole new "not so pretty" world, the other side of her society where everyone's ugly and then they're not. The Special authorities group from the pretty world offers Tally a choice: find Shay and turn her in, or never turn pretty again. Tally's decision will change everyone's world forever. In my opinion, this book may be a connection to the future of the world we are living in. People's classes are defined by their physical appearance. My favorite character in this book is, of course, Tally. She is not only intelligent, she also demonstrated her courage in many ways. I learned from this book that your appearance can not define who you are, but your actions can. I would recommend this book to any young adults because I think that this is an important lesson that they are able to understand.

melodyf's book review was featured in George.
When you look at George, he is a boy. But when you really see him, he has a heart of a girl. George thinks she'll have to keep this secret forever. Her days as a boy was miserable. Until her teacher announces that their class play is going to be based on the book, Charlotte's Web. George goal was to play Charlotte, but no one accepts this idea except for Kelly, her best friend. This is George's perfect chance to let everyone see who she truly is. How will her best friend, Kelly, help her? What is their secret plan? I wasn't sure if I want to read this book at first, however throughout the story, I felt like Alex Gino is really doing a great job on implying the importance on expressing yourself. I felt like this book somehow relates to a person I know. My favorite character in this book is Kelly, because I felt like even though she is possibly crazy, she is unique in her own way and willing to help others. I think that this book is an inspiration to many people. After reading this book, I learn that in order to survive through school and any circumstances, it is very important to express your own opinion, ideas, thoughts, and show who you truly is. "Full of wonder, hope and the importance of getting to be who you are meant to be"

Alton is an awkward teen that had loose his girlfriend to his best friend. His family relationship is very complicated, his dad just got fired by his company, he has a smart 11 year old sister, and a nosy mom. His blind, wealthy Uncle Lester needed a card turner for playing bridge. It is Alton's perfect opportunity to get his family mentioned to his Uncle's will and also get a job as his "card turner". While Alton had to also compete against the young but possibly insane Toni Castaneda, another young relative, he got attracted by her humorous but crazy personality. Since this book is most likely talking about Bridge games, I wasn't sure if I understand it at first. However, by the end of the story, I felt like Louis Sachar is explaining something else through these Bridge games, so it doesn't really matter. I felt like this book relates to me somehow because it seemed like it is written in my siblings' view since I'm also about the same age as Leslie, Alton's sister. My favorite character in this book is Toni, because I felt like even though she is possibly insane, she is unique in her own way. I think that this book is an inspiration to many people. After reading this book, I learn that Bridge bridges the gap between the young and old, between our great desires and the chaos of the universe. A game of bridge can teach such a huge lesson. You don't know you've been cut in half until you try to walk away.
